Can we be honest for a minute?
How often do we try to put the blame on someone or something else when we know we have done something not pleasing to the Lord?
Not one of us will do something we don’t want to do without having a place, even if it is a small place inside of us, that is desiring to do this thing.
Not something we want to admit. Doesn’t feel so pleasant. Easier to push the blame somewhere else. Let’s face up to the ugly truth and deal with it head on.
When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed. Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.
Be on your guard! Evil is looking for any excuse to grab hold of your life and secure a foothold. Temptation and outside influence only needs to begin the work. You are so vulnerable because of your own evil desires. Rest assured, evil and temptation will never deliver on what they promise. That road leads to sin and death, and chances are you already know that road. Use the Word, the armor of God, and those God has placed around you to keep safe and stand firm in the truth that is Jesus Christ – your Lord and Savior. In Him you are free not to sin.
