Things are really getting crazy out there and seems darker by the day. Yet….God is still on the throne and He is still working!
INSERTION===(The morning I wrote this I emailed to a group of ladies I work with and we had been doing a bible study at work at lunch one day a week. I thought they would all agree how wonderful this was but instead I saw quite the opposite and it really broke my heart. Again, I guess it just goes to show that you never know who may be sitting next to you in church or wherever and claims to be a believer in Jesus Christ, well lets just say they might be deceiving themselves.) Now, back to my story.
So, this morning while getting ready for work a verse came to my mind. I put 3 of my favorite versions below.
Habakkuk 1:5 (NIV)
“Look at the nations and watch— and be utterly amazed. For I am going to do something in your days that you would not believe, even if you were told.
“Look among the nations, and see; wonder and be astounded. For I am doing a work in your days that you would not believe if told.
“Look among the nations! Observe! Be astonished! Wonder! Because I am doing something in your days– You would not believe if you were told.
So, while thinking about these I asked the Lord….”hmmmmm , So are You about to do something utterly amazing so that Your name might be glorified for all to see??? “
On my drive into work this morning the radio station I listen to KLRC read this news article. (After hearing it I thought…”How amazing! Thank you Lord for the town that is trying to be a light in the darkness!” John 1:5 (NIV) The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. Matthew 5:16 (NIV) In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:15 (NIV) Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand and it gives light to everyone in the house. I could not help but think back to when I was getting ready for work this morning when the Habakkuk verse came to my mind. I gotta give it to this town for doing this KNOWING they will surely end up getting some grief for it. I will say that after all the police drama these days and how everyone seems to under appreciate them and what they do for us daily with the exception of a few bad apples that I was amazed this town is pulling together and taking a stand! Praise the Lord!!
People Positive Over Bible Verse On Pottsville Police Car By STEPHANIE SHARP | firstname.lastname@example.org Published 09/30 2015 10:19PMUpdated 09/30 2015 11:51PM
POTTSVILLE, Ark. – A small police force in the river valley is getting some new decor. In addition to sirens and lights, you’ll see a bible verse on one of its cruisers. In the small town of just about three thousand, Pottsville Mayor Jerry Williams says you can find a common theme across the community. “[We have] four churches on one block,” Williams said, “We have a religious based community, and that’s shown in what we do around here.” When the police department came to him asking to put a bible verse on the back of a cruiser, he agreed. “I felt like this was a very good thing, and I went ahead and gave my okay for it,” Williams said. The verse is Matthew 5:9, “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.” “There is a lot of good feedback from it. A lot of people have mentioned that this is a good thing,” Williams said. People who live in Pottsville are glad it’s there. “It shows respect to the people we let take care of us and protect our community,” Brandy Price. Williams and Prince say they believe some people may not agree with it. “They have their own options and they have their right to that,” Prince said. “There is going to be opposition, there is opposition in about everything you do,” Williams said. Williams says, for now, it’s here to stay. “You may not believe like we do, you may not live like our community does, but this is something our community believes in,” Williams said. The verse is only on one vehicle now, but the department hopes to expand. A spokesperson for the ACLU says since the verse comes from the New Testament it is favoring one religion over another and could become a first amendment establishment of religion case. However, it has to be brought forward by a citizen in the community.
