1 Peter 1:17-19
Since you call on a Father who judges each person’s work impartially, live out your time as foreigners here in reverent fear. For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.
There is a certain amount of fear that should be present in our lives, and that guides how we live. This fear, in some translations referred to as “reverence”, is “the fear of the Lord”. Because of who our God is, this fear is NOT crippling, damaging, or oppressive. This is not the fear that you feel when you watch a movie filled with horror or terror. We are not trapped by this fear, we are set free to live for God and this appropriate fear of the Lord instructs us on how we should live. The “fear of the Lord” will inform your life, led by the Holy Spirit. Thank you, Jesus!
