Do You Feel Used?

So often it is hard to see the good in things. Especially when we can be feeling abused by those around us. I have been reminded this morning about the verse in James that says to count it all joy … James 1:2-3 (KJV) My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.

2 Corinthians 2:14

Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.

It is so gracious of God to choose to use us. He didn’t have to include us in His plans, and He doesn’t have to use us to accomplish His purposes. Out of His great love however, He decided not only to provide for us the opportunity to triumph in Christ through salvation, but to share the gospel message through us. We are blessed to be involved in God’s story. May our lives portray the life of Christ!

When Your Children Listen

Some of our kids listen and some really do not seem to care. But, they almost always hear you.

Luke 6:46-49

And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like: He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock. But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.

The word “Lord” implies obedience. It is possible that someone accepts Jesus as their Savior, yet does not live as if He is their Lord. Consider today what Jesus went through to secure your salvation. Jesus deserves the place of “Lord and Savior” in your life. God has always desired the obedience of His people. This verse provides a simple yet strong promise: obedience builds strong foundations that will last, disobedience builds without regard for foundation which will not last. Be obedient to Jesus and put the truth into practice in your life.

Are they all bad? Are they all evil? Are they all spotted easily? I would so no. In appearance many are not coming with a neon flashing light saying I am from your enemy! ! On the contrary because if that were true it would be so much easier to turn and run for your life.

1 Corinthians 10:13

There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

As believers, we will be tempted. The idea of temptation relates to how we are attacked or addressed by the world and the forces of evil. A thought, a circumstance, words spoken to you; sometimes it doesn’t take much to cause us to be tempted. Evil strikes at opportunities that make you feel as though you are powerless to defend. God allows you to be tempted that you may hold strongly to Him and show your faithfulness. You are equipped to stand firm which, in some cases, means to flee from temptation. Temptation is not sin, but that is where it leads.

Deep In Our Heart We Know What Is Right

Hebrews 10:12-17

But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;

13 From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool.

14For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.

15Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us:

16This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;

17And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.

We have a High Priest who is worthy! His sacrifice alone has made us perfect forever. You are not yet holy, no Christian is. We are being made holy (or sanctified) by the work of the Holy Spirit within us and our willingness to partner with Him in this life. The Holy Spirit testifies to us about Christ! This means that we are not left alone or abandoned by Christ or God simply because they are in Heaven. We have the Spirit of God in us – how great and loving is God that He would make His home with us!

Breaking It Down – Psalm 1:1

Psalm 1:1 KJVS

Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.

My thoughts : First part of the verse, saying if you walk NOT in the council of those who are ungodly. Let’s simply say; we shouldn’t be heeding the advice of those who clearly don’t know God and His word. If you find yourself needing help in direction concerning a life problem, we should pray, seek answers as we read the word of God. If we find we need more discernment then seek truly godly friends out, seek council from a good pastor or seek christian counseling. (If you are going with a christian counselor it us important to ask about what type of belief they have. What makes them put “christian” in the title of their work. All those calling themselves christian are not all the same. If you are a rose and your counselor is a daisy, you are both flowers but are clearly different flowers altogether. Some Christians may have more ‘new age’ doctrine and if you are truly following Jesus Christ of the bible you certainly don’t want to get any direction from a new age belief system. (Only saying don’t fall prey to anyone calling themselves christian.)

The next part: nor standing in the way of sinners.

What exactly does that mean? Possibly it means not to constantly be nagging a loved one concerning their choices. If they are not saved but are living in the world they simply are not going to gain anything out of YOU telling them constantly that they are going to burn in hell if they do this or that. We can let them know what we believe and why and then just live our lives accordingly so they can SEE what that looks like. While it is hard to watch those we love make bad choices I think we should pray for them and just be there for them on that day they approach you and ask, “so why are you happy, or is your God really able to help me, or I know you are a seemingly good person so what would you do?” When desperate they will go to a person they can trust and not all those friends who let them down. Don’t burn your bridge by being a I TOLD YOU TO STOP YOUR WICKED WAYS. Maybe that also goes into the last part too. Don’t sit in the seat of the scornful. Sometimes we can get on our so called high horse if not careful and humble. Remember we are living in a world full of unbelievers. We can’t just say…you better do this or that and expect them to suddenly awake to the truth of God. Be an example everyday. Sometimes we try to scare them into heaven. Unless the Holy Spirit penetrates their heart they won’t GET IT. Don’t be angry because they ignore or push you away. Simply, pray always for their salvation and seek God and if given an opportunity to share then pray you are prepared.

Questioning Your Salvation?

Hebrews 13:8

Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

If you question some things, I would say write down what you are feeling about yourself and God and why. Then set aside what people might say and how lousy you feel and seek God by way of the scriptures. Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you in all truth. Write down first what you think and feel and why and then on another list each of those things and write the TRUTH about each thing by what the word of God says. He is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow.

Jesus Christ is both God and man in full. Consider that Jesus Christ is the kind of man, and the kind of God, that would suffer and die on a cross so that you would be made free. That Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Jesus Christ rose from the dead and is now seated at the right hand of God. His hope is still that you would be saved; a path made possible by Him alone. He is the same God today, and offers the same promise of eternal life to all who will believe in Him. Praise Jesus for He is worthy!
