More To John 3:16

Don’t stop short with only part of the truth! 17 and 18 are powerful!

John 3:16-18

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

Commentary

John 3:16 is one of the most quoted verses from the Bible, and it’s loving truth that highlights salvation through Jesus is accompanied by powerful context in verses 17 and 18. Today, let us remember together that God “gave” and “sent” His Son into the world willingly. This could not have been to condemn us more, because we were already hopelessly condemned and ensnared by sin. Rather, it is the arrival of Christ that is cause for celebration, because it is through Him alone that we find our only hope of salvation. Hope in God who has given everything to give us hope.
