Describing the 2017 Great American Eclipse

“It’s incredible. It’s almost indescribable,” said Hannah Winit, struggling to put into words the glory and wonder that was unfolding in front of her. (http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-41007632)

Why do people have to get into the path of totality?

When you do see the eclipse from the path of totality, why does everyone seem to freak out?

I saw mine for the first time in 52 years of life!  I agree, it was AMAZING!  But WHY?

Maybe a quote from this article will help put it in perspective.  This was from perspective of a group who had taken a plane up to see the Eclipse.

At first the light seemed to dim almost imperceptibly but soon it was undeniable: day was turning to night.

When the total eclipse was nearly upon us time seemed to speed up.

Cameras clicked frantically; solar glasses were pulled on and off and then on again; faces of strangers were suddenly cheek to cheek, pressed against any window with a view.

And suddenly we were there.

“Totality! Totality!” came the excited announcement on the intercom and through the thick plastic windows on the right hand side of the aircraft the moon looked as if it were a tiny spherical pebble which had been hurled, with beautiful accuracy, straight into the gaping, glaring mouth of our star.

“It’s incredible. It’s almost indescribable,” said Hannah Winit, struggling to put into words the glory and wonder that was unfolding in front of her.

I personally cannot think of any better way to describe it with the exception of what the writer said Hannah was trying to put into words.  Glory and Wonder!

Psa 19:1 KJV  To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.

Psa 24:7 KJV  Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in.

Psa 24:10 KJV  Who is this King of glory? The LORD of hosts, he is the King of glory. Selah.

Isa 66:18 KJV  For I know their works and their thoughts: it shall come, that I will gather all nations and tongues; and they shall come, and see my glory.

Isa 66:19 KJV  And I will set a sign among them, and I will send those that escape of them unto the nations, to Tarshish, Pul, and Lud, that draw the bow, to Tubal, and Javan, to the isles afar off, that have not heard my fame, neither have seen my glory; and they shall declare my glory among the Gentiles.

I could go on with ‘glory’ but I will stop there.  It is in 371 verses in the KJV.

I find myself pondering on the book of Exodus.  Moses asked God to show him His glory.  Perhaps, maybe, God is giving each of us an opportunity to get a glimpse into His glory?  His power?  Give us another opportunity to be sure we know Him or that perhaps we try to get to know Him while we still have a little time?

Exo 33:18 KJV And he said, I beseech thee, shew me thy glory.

Exo 33:19 KJV And he said, I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before thee; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy.

Exo 33:20 KJV And he said, Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live.

Exo 33:21 KJV And the LORD said, Behold, there is a place by me, and thou shalt stand upon a rock:

Exo 33:22 KJV And it shall come to pass, while my glory passeth by, that I will put thee in a clift of the rock, and will cover thee with my hand while I pass by:

Exo 33:23 KJV And I will take away mine hand, and thou shalt see my back parts: but my face shall not be seen.

What a wonderful and awesome God!  Loving and protecting!  Praise His Holy Name forever and ever and ever!!!  Thank you Jesus for saving us and calling out to us to turn from our wickedness and come to you!

My Father Is…..

John 8:42-47
Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me. Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word. Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not. Which of you convinceth me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do ye not believe me? He that is of God heareth God’s words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.

COMMENTARY

In verses 31-32 Jesus says, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” Jesus is addressing Jews who have believed Him, yet knowing their hearts He clarifies that they need to be set free. His audience is having a difficult time understanding why they need to be set free. Jesus responds that everyone who sins is a slave to sin. He confront them more by saying, “You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires.” Satan is in the business of twisting truth into lies and these folks are unable to see Jesus as the truth: the only way to God the Father. Holy Spirit, protect us from being unable to hear the truth. Reveal to us any corrupt allegiance that we have to evil, and let the light of Christ illuminate our hearts.

Do You Know Who You Are?

Who are you?

Where did you come from?

Who do you belong to?

Who will save you?

Who will always love you?

Who paid for all your sin?

Who paid for your sin, who paid your bill in full?

Better question than who are you is do you know Him?

When Love Was Slain

This world is not my home
Oh, this world is not my home
My home’s been made at heaven’s throne
This world is not my home
This life is not my own
Oh, this life is not my own
I am His and His alone
This life is not my own
I was bought when Love was slain
What high cost, to pay death’s wage
Now ransomed, I am freedom’s slave
My Jesus raised me from the grave
Come now and walk with me
Oh, come now and walk with me
Together we our Lord shall meet
Come now and walk with me
For I was bought when Love was slain
What high cost, to pay death’s wage
Now ransomed, I am freedom’s slave
My Jesus raised me from the grave
For I was bought when Love was slain
What high cost, to pay death’s wage
Now ransomed, I am freedom’s slave
My Jesus raised me from the grave
Soon Lord and very soon,
Oh, soon Lord and very soon,
You’ll come take me to be with You
Soon Lord, very soon

No One Can Touch You Like Prayer from Jesus Himself

The High Priestly Prayer

Joh 17:1 These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee:

Joh 17:2 As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.

Joh 17:3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

Joh 17:4 I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.

Joh 17:5 And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.

Joh 17:6 I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word.

Joh 17:7 Now they have known that all things whatsoever thou hast given me are of thee.

Joh 17:8 For I have given unto them the words which thou gavest me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came out from thee, and they have believed that thou didst send me.

Joh 17:9 I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine.

Joh 17:10 And all mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in them.

Joh 17:11 And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.

Joh 17:12 While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.

Joh 17:13 And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves.

Joh 17:14 I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

Joh 17:15 I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.

Joh 17:16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

Joh 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

Joh 17:18 As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.

Joh 17:19 And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.

Joh 17:20  Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;

Joh 17:21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.

Joh 17:22 And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:

Joh 17:23 I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.

Joh 17:24 Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.

Joh 17:25 O righteous Father, the world hath not known thee: but I have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me.

Joh 17:26 And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.

WARNING TO THE USA AND PRESIDENT NOW AND TO COME

Is it all hype?

Is there any truth to it?

Is there any problem with trying to create peace?

Can we believe the word of God?

Should we believe God when He said those who bless Israel will be blessed and those who curse Israel will be cursed? (That was a paraphrase but you can look it up to find God’s words exactly.)

Remember, there will NEVER be peace,  not true peace until the Lord God Almighty returns and puts a stop to the evil in all the world.

Do You Know?

Deuteronomy 4:39-40
Acknowledge and take to heart this day that the Lord is God in heaven above and on the earth below. There is no other.  Keep his decrees and commands, which I am giving you today, so that it may go well with you and your children after you and that you may live long in the land the Lord your God gives you for all time.

COMMENTARY
There is purpose and responsibility to recognizing that the Lord is God, and there is no other. Obedience to God is necessary, SO THAT, “it may go well with you and your children after you”. The responsibility to all parents is to teach their children about who God is. The responsibility to all children is to learn this truth, and to not lose sight of it as they grow up and become parents. Today, this promise is in Christ Jesus alone. You cannot know God without faith in Jesus Christ. He is the only way to God, and in Him alone is it possible to live in obedience to God.

Does God Listen Anymore?

Below this verse from Exodus and the commentary that came from my phone app, I have added another verse that I was taken to this morning by a different source.   It isn’t an accident or a coincidence but I believe the Lord God wants us to hear or read and understand both.  So, if you are reading this and feel like He isn’t listening then dwell on both scriptures and seek the Lord.  Often we are the ones that are not listening.   Be encouraged because God never changes and is the same yesterday,  today and forever.

Exodus 2:23-25
During that long period, the king of Egypt died. The Israelites groaned in their slavery and cried out, and their cry for help because of their slavery went up to God.  God heard their groaning and he remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac and with Jacob.  So God looked on the Israelites and was concerned about them.
COMMENTARY
God hears us when we cry out to Him, and He does not forget His covenant. In Christ, we have a new covenant in His blood, but the God behind the covenant is still the same. God was no stranger to Israel’s situation, and in His timing He acted and delivered them from Egyptian oppression. He knows the name of each starving person, every missing child, every lost soul. He is not a stranger to your situation, and hears when you cry out to Him. God is with You and will act – trust on Him completely.

Here is the 2nd verse.

2 Chronicles 12:6-7
Whereupon the princes of Israel and the king humbled themselves; and they said, The Lord is righteous. And when the Lord saw that they humbled themselves, the word of the Lord came to Shemaiah, saying, They have humbled themselves; therefore I will not destroy them, but I will grant them some deliverance; and my wrath shall not be poured out upon Jerusalem by the hand of Shishak.
