Jas 5:7 Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain.

Jas 5:8  Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh.
Jas 5:9  Grudge not one against another, brethren, lest ye be condemned: behold, the judge standeth before the door.
Jas 5:10  Take, my brethren, the prophets, who have spoken in the name of the Lord, for an example of suffering affliction, and of patience.
Jas 5:11  Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy.
Jas 5:12  But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven, neither by the earth, neither by any other oath: but let your yea be yea; and your nay, nay; lest ye fall into condemnation.

“American marines singing “Days of Elijah” (Lirycs)” (NEVER GETS OLD)

This is a few years old and I believe I have posted it here before, BUT, this never fails to stir my soul!   It never fails to encourage me, lift me, give me a renewed hope!  It always moves me to tears and moves me to praise my King of Kings! Hallelujah!

I Need You – I Cannot Trust Even in my Own Heart

Jeremiah 17:9-10
The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? I the Lord search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings
Psalm 33:13-15
The Lord looketh from heaven; he beholdeth all the sons of men.  From the place of his habitation he looketh upon all the inhabitants of the earth.  He fashioneth their hearts alike; he considereth all their works.

COMMENTARY —-Knowing our own hearts isn’t really our strong suit, though we often think that it is. In fact, there are those who take pride in the fact that they know themselves well, some even reject counsel because they conclude that others cannot possibly know them well enough to give sound advice. Apart from God, we cannot possibly know our own hearts well enough to make choices that reflect our faith. Part of the process is learning how to accept that He knows better, will always know better, and to trust Him completely. If we are willing to face that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life, our challenge becomes surrender. We are met with forgiveness, and empowered by grace to see our world differently, and cast aside the idols of our heart. Life cannot be more than when Jesus, the Master, is at the helm.

Looking Above

Colossians 3:1-4

If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.

And God Said

Genesis 1:14 (KJV)  And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:

Middle-East Prophecy Update  August 28th, 2016

Pastor JD Farag

Lest We Become Self-righteous

Reading this today humbled me. How easily we can be self righteous without even realizing it.   I  know this morning the Lord revealed to me that ‘just maybe’, when I start even thinking the following.

Thank you Lord that You opened my eyes to see that going out and doing this or that is wrong.  Thank You Lord that I am not blind but I see.

So, what is wrong with the above statement?   On the surface nothing because I am thankful that I am not as blind as I  once was BUT, I  must be very careful or that can so easily become a self righteous attitude.   Dear Lord God,  please continue to give me Your mercy and grace.   Help me Lord not to cross the line from thankfulness to self righteousness.   Help me to always remember ‘but without the grace of God there go I’.

Deuteronomy 9:4-6
After the Lord your God has driven them out before you, do not say to yourself, “The Lord has brought me here to take possession of this land because of my righteousness.” No, it is on account of the wickedness of these nations that the Lord is going to drive them out before you.  It is not because of your righteousness or your integrity that you are going in to take possession of their land; but on account of the wickedness of these nations, the Lord your God will drive them out before you, to accomplish what he swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.  Understand, then, that it is not because of your righteousness that the Lord your God is giving you this good land to possess, for you are a stiff-necked people.

COMMENTARY

It was not because of Israel’s righteousness that they entered into the promised land, and it is not because of our righteousness that we have salvation from sin. This is a foreshadowing of the fullness and completeness of all things in Christ Jesus. God provides the sacrifice to Abraham, as he nears sacrificing his own son Isaac (a test of faith from God). Likewise, God provides the perfect sacrifice for our sins; once and for all in Christ Jesus His son. Lord God, thank you for saving us! I pray we surrender our lives to you fully, and delight in you always!

Remember This

Isaiah 45:5-6

I am the LORD, and there is no other, besides me there is no God; I equip you, though you do not know me, that people may know, from the rising of the sun and from the west, that there is none besides me; I am the LORD, and there is no other.

I Needed this Today

I  felt do attacked today.  This was the encouragement I needed!  A reminder of who I am and who I belong to!

Numbers 6:22-27
The Lord said to Moses,  “Tell Aaron and his sons, ‘This is how you are to bless the Israelites. Say to them:  “‘“The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.”’  “So they will put my name on the Israelites, and I will bless them.”

Commentary
Lord God, we praise your name! We are so grateful that you have put your name on us through Christ Jesus. Through His gift of the Holy Spirit, our seal in Christ, we look to you and desire to be a people that is after your heart; boldly and truthfully sharing the gospel message. Protect us from pride, deceit, and buying lies that seek to destroy our faith and trust in you. Thank you that you are with us, Lord God, and thank you that nothing in all creation can separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:39 paraphrased)

God, Why is This Happening to Me?

Ever ask this question?   I know I have.  Ever had anyone ask why God would let such horrible things happen to seemingly good people?   Why the loss of a child?  Why such horrible child abuse leaving some to grow up as mean and abusive people themselves?  Why some end up with nothing and struggle to just have a roof over their head?  Why did the tornado come through and destroy the lives of so many? Why am I disliked by everyone?  Why, why, why???  The questions go on and are never-ending. In the book of Job he asks God many questions.  God answers quite clearly in one chapter. In a nutshell God asks Job, WHERE WERE YOU WHEN I BUILT THE FOUNDATIONS OF THE WORLD,  ….He goes on to talk about all the amazing things He has done and created.

Who are we to question the God of everything including our very being.  It is very humbling.   In Genesis 50 it gives us a great understanding of how God’s plan in the longterm is so much more than we can ever imagine.   We only see what is before us, what’s is hurting our hearts.  We usually cannot even fathom anything good coming from something horrible and painful in our lives.   Romans 8:28 tells us that God can turn ALL things to the good for those who are called by Him and for His good purpose.   If you are a child of God then we can cry over pain, but we need to say ok Lord, this stinks and I don’t understand the why but I give it to You and trust You are going to do something great with this even if I may never know what the end picture will look like. My life is yours.  Yes, we can cry.  Yes we should cry out to God in our pain and it is ok to ask Him WHY LORD,  WHY.  Then we must resolve to trust Him and pick ourselves up and allow God in all His mercy to change us and mold us into that which He has desired and planned for us.  That is when God can begin to use the negative for His good purpose and in the end to glorify Himself. Praise God!

Genesis 50:18-20
His brothers then came and threw themselves down before him. “We are your slaves,” they said.  But Joseph said to them, “Don’t be afraid. Am I in the place of God?  You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.

COMMENTARY
After everything that Joseph has been through, he continues to show great wisdom in how he deals with his brothers. The experience of meeting them again after they had betrayed him was very difficult, yet God continues to give him strength to be the man who he saw in a dream so long ago. There are times in life when other people try to do us harm – or some kind of harm simply happens to us. These things do not surprise God, and it is within His power to work them out for His good purpose. Praise God for His faithfulness and strength!

Should Christians always be Joyful?

This resonated with me when I recently  listened to a study on Daniel.  It is funny how you can read the same thing many times and suddenly someone else is reading it or you might be again and for some reason it is as though it is the first time you heard it or you understood it a little differently.  Maybe it is because God knew I needed it right now?

Daniel 7:28

Hitherto is the end of the matter. As for me Daniel, my cogitations much troubled me, and my countenance changed in me: but I kept the matter in my heart.

So,  after Daniel had the vision and had the interpretation given to him he was basically freaked out!

Cogitations much troubled me. – Means he thought on it and he meditated on its meaning , which in turned troubled him. I might say it also caused him some anxiety. (My words -anxiety – not the bibles.)

Countenance changed in me. – Normally we see this when you might try to act cool and like everything is all good BUT, your facial expressions say what you are really thinking and feeling.  Daniel says his countenance changed IN ME.  That seems to me like it is even deeper than just a change in your facial expression. This seemed to effect his whole being.  Then the verse says,  but I kept the matter in my heart.

I suppose that I can relate to this so much is because the last 2 to 3 years have been tough and yet amazing.   Amazing to see the word of God happening in many ways right before our eyes.  Yet, troubling because so many people are oblivious to any of it and even those who say they are Christians.  I feel the Lord reveals things almost daily and much of it is a little sobering to say the least.  I feel myself pulling away from everyone and from this wicked world. My heart feels heavy,  feels sad,  feels emotional.  I  want to yell, CAN YOU NOT SEE?  ARE YOU NOT LOOKING OR WATCHING?   I have done it in emotional ways and in subtle ways.  Same outcome,  nothing. No response.  A look that says ‘get a grip’.  An email from a  son in the military who says ‘stop sending me emails and trying to convert me because I just delete them all’.  (Those were the subtle ones and would have a news clip and simply say…we all better make sure we are right with the Lord because we never know if today is our last day or not.)  Not trying to convert him, maybe WAKE HIM.  I say all this to say it is really hard to just pretend I am happy that many are asleep.  My family and strangers.  It is heavy on your soul.

Daniel had a hard time with the information he was given such a long time ago.  Now that this scripture resonated with me I no longer feel so guilty about having a heavy heart for the lost in this world.  A burden for those who cannot see or hear.  Doesn’t make it easier but only let’s me realize it is probably normal and ok that I am not bouncing off the walls with joy about it. I am continuing to look up as I do believe the end of the road is approaching at a high rate of speed and that is a joyous thought for our minds and hearts.

God bless you all and may the Lord God have mercy on each one of us.

Verse to Quiet the Soul

Psalm 23:1-3a
The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.  He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,  he refreshes my soul.

COMMENTARY
A shepherd looks after the well-being of his flock. Even though this is true, sheep sometimes wander. Our verse today comes from a sheep who recognizes the goodness of his shepherd, and lives covered under his care. There is a promise to meet our needs, a promise of restoration, and a promise of relationship; not only in this Psalm, but throughout scripture. Our amazing shepherd, Jesus Christ, has led us to salvation and he has promised rest for those for those who come to Him. This is not a rest promising an easy life, but it is rest with our Father who yearns to shepherd and restore us.

My New Year’s Resolution (I will call it a goal.)

image

Dear Heavenly Father,  I will need Your help daily as I always do.  I admit and know I can’t get past a moment in any day without You.  You are the glue that keeps me and keeps all the things in my life held together.  Even on the days it feels like it is crumbling because I know You are there.  It is not me that is crumbling but it is only the world around me. In Psalms 91:1 your word says:  Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High WILL rest in the shadow of the Almighty.  I praise you Lord God and I ask You to help me stay focused on You and Your goodness and that is how I  might be able to walk in Your ways and others will see Your glory in my life and around me no matter what my circumstances.  In the powerful name of My Lord and Savior Jesus Christ I ask and pray , AMEN.

Psalm 115:1
Not to us, Lord, not to us but to your name be the glory, because of your love and faithfulness.
COMMENTARY
The KJV says, “but unto thy name give glory, for thy mercy, and for thy truth’s sake”. It is important that all of us as believers give God the glory as we experience His presence, power, and love in and through our lives and the lives of others. The truth is that the glory belongs given to God, because it is rightly His and it is Him orchestrating the goodness, the mercy, and who offered His unfailing love to save all those who would believe in Him. As we glory in the name of Jesus, others may come to know Him, and will praise Him!
