Jesus Already Knows, so Why Cry Out?

Mark 5:30-34

And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched my clothes? And his disciples said unto him, Thou seest the multitude thronging thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me? And he looked round about to see her that had done this thing. But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth. And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.

Commentary

In a crowd full of people who are, “following and pressing in around Him”, Jesus asks the question (vs. 30) and begins looking for the woman who touched His clothes. Jesus is not confused about who touched His clothes…He already knows. Why then does He ask the question? In a beautifully crafted divine setup, Jesus orchestrates a public confession from this woman about what has happened to her. God’s plan collides with this woman’s great faith and heals her, while also providing a teaching moment and great encouragement to the disciples and the crowd.

I will add… Even in the time we live in , when we cry out to Jesus with our afflictions and sorrows and we are healed or comforted or any number of things, it becomes yet another testimony for glorifying Jesus Christ our King!

Look Up, Look Up, Look Up!

Yes, I was drawn to the title!  Who wouldn’t be?

But what is better than this great song and catchy tune?

Let me just say it is yet ONE MORE reason to give thanks to the ONLY God who saves!  In the middle of the song he is interviewed and it comes out that he once was a follower of Islam.  No more!  He is now a follower of Jesus Christ!  Look at the joy that radiates from someone because of the JOY OF THE LORD GOD!  PRAISE THE LORD!

Deuteronomy 8:1-3

“The whole commandment that I command you today you shall be careful to do, that you may live and multiply, and go in and possess the land that the LORD swore to give to your fathers. And you shall remember the whole way that the LORD your God has led you these forty years in the wilderness, that he might humble you, testing you to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep his commandments or not. And he humbled you and let you hunger and fed you with manna, which you did not know, nor did your fathers know, that he might make you know that man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by every word that comes from the mouth of the LORD.
