Deep In Our Heart We Know What Is Right

Hebrews 10:12-17

But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;

13 From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool.

14For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.

15Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us:

16This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;

17And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.

We have a High Priest who is worthy! His sacrifice alone has made us perfect forever. You are not yet holy, no Christian is. We are being made holy (or sanctified) by the work of the Holy Spirit within us and our willingness to partner with Him in this life. The Holy Spirit testifies to us about Christ! This means that we are not left alone or abandoned by Christ or God simply because they are in Heaven. We have the Spirit of God in us – how great and loving is God that He would make His home with us!

Just Walking in the Shade – I Mean the Shadow

The scriptures are clear.  How easily we can kid or should I say lie to ourselves not to mention others.  Scripture tells us that our very own hearts deceive us. We cannot be trusted even to ourselves.   Put your trust in the only one that has the power to save you.   Jesus Christ is His name!   So EASY for us (I have been guilty too), for us to throw stones at Kathy.   I mean she makes it so easy.  She needs Jesus Christ,  she needs to repent and we do too.  We should all be praying for ourselves AND for Kathy Griffin.   Instead of stoning her.  Yes, she needs to be called out for her actions and that’s been done.   Now let’s all pray for her and pray she comes out of the darkness and sees herself for what she has become.   Pray she stops making excuses to others but is first honest with herself.   Right now she is being deceived by her very own heart as most of us from one degree or another. It is a heart issue.

Proverbs 16:9  (flesh leads us our way but the Spirit of God leads us to life)

A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps.

Jeremiah 17:9-10 (we are easily deceived unless we stay in the word of God to be able to know and discern the truth even in our hearts)

The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked :who can know it?

I the LORD search the heart,  I try the reins,  even to give every man according to his ways,  and according to the fruit of his doings.

Deuteronomy 30:6 (tells us the why)

And the LORD thy God will circumcise  (means to cut away all the wickedness ) thine heart, and the heart of thy seed,  to love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, that thou mayest live.

Matthew 22:37-38 (backs up old testament law)

Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.  38- This is the first and great commandment.

Romans 2:12-16

For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law;  (For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.  For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves:  Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;)  In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel.

Today we see again that God is writing the “requirements of the law” on the hearts of people. This is the Holy Spirit of God transcribing on our hearts how we ought to live – by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. A day is coming when God will judge people’s secrets through Jesus Christ, and there will be absolutely no excuses on that day. We will not be able to say, “but Jesus, I…” and talk our way out of what is already plainly known. None of us are without conscience, which according to this verse bears witness impacting judgment. The Holy Spirit is not going to lead us down a path that lives a life “secret” from God (as if that is even possible). The power of God is at work showing your life for what it is, and we have choices of how we will respond to those revelations. Will we choose the light, or will we choose the shadows?

We All Have a Favorite Part of the Body, but All Parts Are Needed.

  • Do you like your legs?
  • Maybe you say your hands have always looked young so that is your favorite.
  • I have always been told I have perfect toes and therefore my feet are something I thought looked good in sandals.:-)
  • Are you someone who always enjoyed a good session at the gym? Then maybe it is your biceps, great arms you like.
  • My point here is in our day to day worldly lives we tend to think about our body parts or those of the opposite sex.  “I am a leg man”, “oh, would you look at his strong arms”.  As we drawer closer to the Lord God, we begin to understand the spiritual side of the parts of the body.  God used some by their feet as they walk all over and share the gospel.  Some by their hands and arms as they reach out to strangers and lend help in times of need to those hurting and it is done in the name of Jesus Christ, and bringing glory to the Father. Maybe you don’t feel you do anything significant and think I only go to work and home again.  Yet maybe by an action of obedience to God those around you have seen Jesus even though you might have been unaware. I try to bring encouraging words to those around me.  Sometimes they don’t want to hear a positive spin but as they have time to think about it they do appreciate it. We show compassion, we show grace, we show mercy.  Most of all we are to show love.  By showing all these things we are showing love.  We can only show mercy and grace and compassion and love because our saviour Jesus Christ first loved us and had mercy on us and extends grace to us.  Without His loving us first not one of us could begin to be a functioning part of the body of Christ.  The man and woman who are leaving America to work in a part of the world to share Jesus Christ with those who have never heard of Him may seem to be the most important part of the body.  Is it not obvious that without the encouraging words of those in our everyday workplaces, and without those who help by extending compassion to those in a homeless shelter or a battered woman’s shelter. Without those who stop to give money to the man or woman with a sign who in standing on the corner of a busy street or standing at the end of the parking lot at Wal-Mart with a sign. Without those who stop and take a minute to simply speak a kind word to an elderly man or woman eating alone in a restaurant or maybe surprising them by secretly picking up their tab.  Maybe the person you took a minute to just speak a kind word to is a veteran from long ago and fought for our freedoms and just maybe they have no one now and just maybe you are the only one they might have the opportunity to interact with today.
  • If you are still reading this then you and I can both see how vitally important every part of the body of Christ is.  Just as our human bodies have different parts and some you never think about unless you hurt it and then you realize it plays a very important part.  So your heart seems really important and it is, but if you break even a little toe or a little finger you begin to learn how important that little part of your own body is. That little toe that you never thought twice about. We take for granted all the parts of our bodies when we feel great! Those times when we feel great is only because all parts of the body are functioning well.  I can’t help but think maybe when the bible speaks about how judgement will begin in the church, aka the body of Christ.  Maybe the body of Christ needs a Dr.  and Jesus is the great physician.  Maybe some of the body is not working well and that is some of why we see so much anger in the world.  I am certainly not saying that is totally why.  We know because of what the word of God says that these things will and are going to come to pass.  We also read that they will hate us but not because of us but because the world first hated Him.  Because we love Him they will also hate us.  Back to the body…We each play an important part regardless if you are a little toe or you are the heart.  Let’s all use the gift we were given. You might only have one gift or maybe 10.  If we are going to another nation or simply going to work everyday we each need to realize the importance that each one of us can play in the lives of those around us. WE ARE THE BODY!

Romans 12:4-8
For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office:  So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.  Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith;  Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching;  Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness.

Each of us who has come to believe in Jesus is a member of the body of Christ. Jesus is the “head” of His own body, so for those who were hoping for that role – it is already taken. This passage says “each member belongs to all the others”. Today I would like to you consider, in a very personal way, what that means. As we read on we find mention of various gifts being offered in service to the body of Christ, a direction that implies responsibility for each and every one of us. God has masterfully gifted each one of us in compliment to bring the body of Christ to completeness. Did you get that? The gift(s) you are given, those revealed to you and empowered by the Holy Spirit, those gift(s) have great purpose. Use them, and give God the glory!

Looking within Our Own Hearts

We must look in our hearts and ask God to clean them up, circumcise them.  Cut away all that is wicked.   Be not deceived!  How can our own hearts deceive us?

Mark 7:20-23
He went on: “What comes out of a person is what defiles them.  For it is from within, out of a person’s heart, that evil thoughts come—sexual immorality, theft, murder,  adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly.  All these evils come from inside and defile a person.”

This is Jesus speaking in more depth of evil that comes from the heart. After they encountered the Pharisees while eating with unclean hands, Jesus corrected the damaging tradition and rightly defended His disciples from their deceit. Evil in our hearts come in many different thoughts, and many times those thoughts are driven by very powerful emotions, or find fuel in some unresolved past experience. We must take courage and flee from the evil that rises up in our hearts. Sometimes running to Jesus is like running away from ourselves, because we must die to ourselves to truly live for Him.

Also. …

Proverbs 16:9.

A man’s heart deviseth his way: But the Lord directeth his steps.

Jeremiah 17:9-10

The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? I the Lord search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.

Deuteronomy 30:6

And the Lord thy God will circumcise thine heart, and the heart of thy seed, to love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, that thou mayest live.  (Circumcise means to cut away something such as here, wickedness.) (Why is this important?  The verse Deuteronomy 30:6 clearly says we can love the Lord thy God with all our heart and soul so that we may live.  Our hearts must have the evil things that so easily deceive even us, our very own hearts deceive us. When the Lord cuts out these things we can love Him as He requires and as we should also desire.)

Matthew 22:37-38

Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment.

John 2:22

When therefore he was risen from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this unto them; and they believed the scripture, and the word which Jesus had said.

(Here the end of this verse says then they BELIEVED the SCRIPTURE.  So, we can see we should follow all these scriptures and NOT think or trust or believe our wicked hearts.  Scripture says our hearts ARE wicked and deceive us.  Ask the Lord to show us and to clean up our hearts, to circumcise tge wickedness that keeps us from loving Him as we must.  Please God help us from falling away from You because of our own evil fleshly hearts.  In the name of Jesus Christ we ask.  Amen)

Most Important Food

Deuteronomy 8:1-3

“The whole commandment that I command you today you shall be careful to do, that you may live and multiply, and go in and possess the land that the LORD swore to give to your fathers. And you shall remember the whole way that the LORD your God has led you these forty years in the wilderness, that he might humble you, testing you to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep his commandments or not. And he humbled you and let you hunger and fed you with manna, which you did not know, nor did your fathers know, that he might make you know that man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by every word that comes from the mouth of the LORD.

Giving of Your Heart

Those times you just whip out some cash and give without thinking twice about it, BUT not from a compulsion but joyfully.  Those are the times I believe this verse is speaking about.

What about the times we are going back and forth like a tug of war?  According to the verse below I have to ask the question…If you finally give does it even matter?

Now let me be clear,  it does matter as far as God can still use that money to help whoever it was meant to help and it will still glorify God the Father.  When we give in that attitude I am betting that the books in Heaven do not show an entry for that.  0.00 given on such and such day.

If we finally give in and give because others are watching and we don’t want to look bad then we already received our reward in the sight of man. I don’t know the verse for that off the top of my head but I do know there is one.

We need to be careful when giving and be humble before man and give with a cheerful heart before the Lord God!

2 Corinthians 9:7

7 Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

Never Let Go of My Hand

Psalm 119:9-12
How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to your word. I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands. I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you. Praise be to you, Lord; teach me your decrees.
The verse starts out for the “young”, yet the heart of the message holds true for us all: live according to God’s word. How is it that we “hide God’s word in our hearts”? Remember that God’s Word lives within us via the Holy Spirit, who convicts and teaches our hearts. Memorize scripture and pray about the meaning of scriptures. Look for opportunities to serve in your local communities, or around the globe. Create opportunity in your life to experience God. The more you experience God, the stronger His word is in your heart because you have become a witness.

Forgive me….

Sometimes I don’t see….
Dust on the ceiling fan,
Crumbs in the corner,
Leaves on the porch,
Smudges on mirrors.

These are the big things.  Things visible to those who look, who pay attention.

What about the stuff too small to see with the naked eye?  Is it no big deal, after all it is very small?

Ask a physician if the bacteria they found is no big deal.  That was very small.  Took weeks to figure out what was about to be the cause of death of your grandfather.  Not visible to even a trained eye.

Psalm 19:12-14
But who can discern their own errors? Forgive my hidden faults. Keep your servant also from willful sins; may they not rule over me.Then I will be blameless, innocent of great transgression.  May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.

Asking God forgiveness for hidden faults comes from a place of humility, from a heart that recognizes that we will never know ourselves as well as God knows us. “Presumptuous sin” (NKJV) parades around like a juggernaut to our faith. These sins want us to feel ashamed, like we cannot approach God, or do not have control over them. Take up the armor of God and do not be fooled! Stand firm in your faith! Give the battles of addiction and deliberate sin to the Lord for triumph! He is able to forgive and you are able to overcome by the power of Christ!

My prayer….thank you Father for forgiving me for the things I clearly can see I should not have done and I repent of.  Thank you for forgiving me for all the little things that are in me that will lead to my death….those things I can never be perfect enough to even notice.  Without you I am nothing. Without you I am hopeless.

Can you be trusted?

Do you desire to know God better? Do you have those moments where you are reading His word and it is as though God suddenly appeared and spoke the words right off the page to you? I find that to be so exciting! When it happens it is as though I am flying high in the clouds! I am so happy! I feel as though I am so close to our Father and I don’t want that to go away. But it does.

Why? Well, I can say I know in my heart He has not gone anywhere. It is I who flew off in my joy. It is like Proverbs 2:3-5 says…and if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding and if you look for itas for silverand search for it as for hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of The Lord and find the knowledge of God..

Looking back it seems like when I have those moments when God reveals the smallest thing to me I run off acting like I think I have the fullness of Gods wisdom. (I don’t literally think that but it appears like maybe I act that way.) God is the friend that you can rest assured will not go anywhere. He will always be there. He is simply waiting for me. Waiting to see when I am really in this thing 100%.

Daniel 10:12 Do not be afraid, Daniel. (Slip in your name instead of Daniel) Since the first day that you set your mind to gain understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come in response to them.

Today I was reading and ran across a statement in the study I was doing. I want to share my thoughts.

The statement is as follows.
We often talk about whether we can trust God, but maybe we should be asking , Can He trust us? Can He trust us with power, insight, and influence as He did Daniel? Or will our pride get in the way?

Everyday I have to make a choice and pray that that God will grant me a willing spirit to sustain me. Pray He will create a pure heart in me. I cannot do these things on my own but only can He make me strong when I am weak. My flesh is always weak. Daily I must humble myself before The Lord. When He reveals His morsels of treasure I can rejoice in it but keep looking and seeking because there is a LOT more treasure to be found as I continue to seek His face.

So I ask myself again, Can God trust me with hIs power, insight and influence? Can I be trusted with more of His sweet and exciting insight that He reveals to me when I am seeking it?

Thank you Lord for believing in me, for not giving up on me. Thank you for your forgiveness and your mercy and grace that are all undeserved. Thank you for a new start every day.
