Reaching for the Arms of Our Father

Acts 17:26-28

And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation; That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us: For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.

Commentary

Take an extra moment today and let this sink into your heart. Noah was the man that all nations were made from, a man who found favor in the eyes of God. This verse indicates that God has setup history as a divine outworking of a plan filled with mercy, grace, and opportunity for us to seek Him as our loving Father. My heart leaps each time my children reach for me, something I cannot express in words. God set everything up so that we would have every opportunity to reach for him, just like a little child would reach for a parent. Reach and cry out “Abba!” Daddy!

Message to the Persecuted

Powerful word and a powerful song because of our powerful GOD who loves each of us!  So let your testimony stand strong!

Matthew 5:10

“Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Faith

Galatians 5:5-6
For through the Spirit we eagerly await by faith the righteousness for which we hope.  For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.

COMMENTARY
Amazing love drives us toward a working faith in Christ. James 2:21-22 says, “Was not our father Abraham considered righteous for what he did when he offered his son Isaac on the altar? You see that his faith and his actions were working together, and his faith was made complete by what he did.” (NIV) Abraham was willing to act according to his faith, and God responds to that and spares Isaac. God never intended to have Abraham kill Isaac, but He desired Abraham to live in an obedience driven by love. Our faith consists of both belief in God and right action in response to that belief.

Believe Anyway!

Matthew 19:26

But Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

And What is True Fasting?

I suppose I have never read this chapter slow enough to allow the words to soak in.  I had to get my bible out and read the first 5 verses.

Isaiah 58:6-8
“Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter—when you see the naked, to clothe them, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood? Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear;
then your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the LORD will be your rear guard.
Commentary
Here in Isaiah, we see a true picture of fasting come forth. Stand against injustice, share freedom with the oppressed, share what we have with those who do not have, and do not turn away from our own flesh and blood. Verse 8 gives us clear results of lives dedicated to this kind of fasting. Light will be seen, healing will manifest in and through our lives, your righteousness will pave your way forward, and the glory of the Lord will guard you. I pray that God drives this truth into our hearts and pours out our lives for the fasting He has chosen. With Christ, this can be done!
