We All Fall Short and Sin, BUT…

Close up of an 17th-century depiction of the 2...

So, is the question about sin or is it about how you deal with your sin? I have to say that after reading the commentary it made me think hard about myself. Yes, I have lived with that type of repentance but have I lately? I think I need to draw a little closer to the Father. I need to think a little more on the details of my own sin. I need to get back to the place where I truly grab ahold of the pain no matter how small the sin may seem, it causes the Holy Spirit to grieve. It hurts my heart when I think of it in those terms. I thank God for His mercy and His amazing grace He gives us freely and undeserved.

Matthew 4:17
From that time on Jesus began to preach, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.”

COMMENTARY
Repentance is at the core of our salvation experience with Jesus. The dictionary definition of repentance is, “to feel such sorrow for sin or fault as to be disposed to change one’s life for the better”. The sorrow comes from having realized that our sin offends and costs our holy, perfect, and righteous God. We don’t wallow in this sorrow, we allow it to catapult us into a love relationship with Jesus who willingly sacrificed Himself for our sins. Repentance is understanding that we fall short, and in receiving God’s gift of salvation His power begins to enact change throughout our lives.
