Are You Thirsty?

Psalm 42:1-2

As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God. My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?

God is our very life, and it is right that we “thirst” for Him. Father, we pray today that You would create a thirst in us for You, the living God. May the Holy Spirit lead us to the well of life that You offer each day; especially through the hard times. The truth is that all are desperately lost without You, and in great need of a Savior. We praise You for that Savior Jesus, and ask that we would never stop desiring more of You Lord God. Thank you Jesus for being the living water that never runs dry.

Seeking The One Who Created Us

Psalm 42:1-11 KJV

As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.

[2] My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?

[3] My tears have been my meat day and night, while they continually say unto me, Where is thy God?

[4] When I remember these things , I pour out my soul in me: for I had gone with the multitude, I went with them to the house of God, with the voice of joy and praise, with a multitude that kept holyday.

[5] Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance.

[6] O my God, my soul is cast down within me: therefore will I remember thee from the land of Jordan, and of the Hermonites, from the hill Mizar.

[7] Deep calleth unto deep at the noise of thy waterspouts: all thy waves and thy billows are gone over me.

[8] Yet the Lord will command his lovingkindness in the daytime, and in the night his song shall be with me, and my prayer unto the God of my life.

[9] I will say unto God my rock, Why hast thou forgotten me? why go I mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?

[10] As with a sword in my bones, mine enemies reproach me; while they say daily unto me, Where is thy God?

[11] Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.

I Need You Father

Psalm 140:7
Sovereign Lord, my strong deliverer, you shield my head in the day of battle.

If you are a Christian, battles are coming your way. You will experience trials that tempt you to sin and renounce your faith in God. The spiritual realm is at war for your soul, and this impacts the decisions you make every day. All of these battles belong to the Lord and it is our job recognize this truth and live accordingly. Live like God will deliver you. Live like He works to protect you from harm. Cry out to him and put your hardships on display before the Lord. Crisis does not come to your life only to steal and cause pain, it is also a birthplace of the miraculous.

Prayer For the Day

Psalm 119:169-172
May my cry come before you, Lord; give me understanding according to your word. May my supplication come before you; deliver me according to your promise. May my lips overflow with praise, for you teach me your decrees. May my tongue sing of your word, for all your commands are righteous.
Today, let these verses be your prayer. Our God is present in our lives and has made His home with those who believe in Christ. We were built to praise Him, to come to God and lay our burdens, our troubles, our hopes and dreams; everything we are and need at the throne of grace. Best of all – our God hears us and responds in a way that is for us, and not against us. Remain in the love of Christ! (John 15:9-10)

Surrounded By Water and Sleeping Well…

Something that most of us have felt here in the good old United States of America.  We have always had a terrific military we could count on to fight for our freedom and to keep us safe.  We were always far enough from all those we deemed as lunatics and we (until we hit a certain age?) usually felt like we could trust our government to do the right thing for us.  Ok, so I felt that way until a few years ago.

So what has changed?  Well besides EVERYTHING…I suppose a better question to ask is why has everything changed?

I know much of it is me who has changed.  I have a different idea of what is good and right than maybe I did when I was younger.  As I have grown closer to the Lord much of my views have changed.  I used to not be any better than the younger generations today at watching the things happening in the world.  I get frustrated with them now.  I think….dear Lord, and they are voting?  Yikes….that is scary when they are voting because of the color of someone’s skin and they want to just be able to say they were a part of it.  Next will be they just want a woman president and want to be a part of that.  I have nothing against either view as long as they are voting because they agree with the issues.  The thing is that most of the youth or a lot of the youth are not any different than I was at that young age.  They are young adults that are clueless and only want to know who might put more money in their pockets.  Thing is that I did not vote then.  Glad I did not.

So, back to my point.

Oh yes….we can sleep soundly at night because we are in America.  We are surrounded by big bodies of water and we have a big military.  We can sit and play video games all day and teach our children to do the same.  We can legalize pot and tell everyone it is no big deal.  Don’t smoke a cigarette though….(really?  think about it…good grief).  Then lets let out thousands of felony drug dealers and say, it is no big deal.  Then lets bring in 100,000’s of refugees, not the Christian ones, but the ones who would love nothing more than come here and have many children and over power us and or simply just kill us from the moment they arrive.  After all, how hard is it to kill a nation that is high on legal pot and while stoned they sit and play video games.

What about the so called Church?  Not saying I am much better, but we all are such push overs.  This group that runs this nation has us so afraid to open our mouths for fear we will be called bigots or that we might offend someone or that we are on a watch list because we believe in one true God!  We believe in Jesus Christ!  Our King of Kings!  Because we believe in the word of God and that it is the TRUTH!  We are against this new “we all should unify, after all we all believe in the same god.”

When will we stand?  When will we say enough is enough?  When will we stop saying it is ok because we don’t want to ruffle any feathers.  What should we do?  I don’t know all the answers, I know if we do not begin to do something we may find ourselves wishing we had of after it is toooooo late.

So, in light of everything how well should we be sleeping at night?  How safe are we really?  I cannot remember a time when we were hated more and respected less in the world than we are right now.

Climb out of bed!  Wash your face!  Let’s pray!  We cannot fix this thing, but maybe God will hear our prayers and give us more time, give our children and family more time to open their eyes before it is too late.

God have mercy on us all….God please watch over us even though we as a nation have told you to leave….many of us want you hear with us.  Guide us Lord God.  Walk with us and teach us your ways and show us the light on the path to you.  Help us not to be frightened by the sounds we hear that are created to distract us and to take our eyes off of the one and only true God that can save us.  Thank you for loving us and for forgiving us.  Thank you for not forsaking us.  Help us to stand firm and to hold on to You and Your word and the hope that lies within our faith in our Savior, our King.  In the name of Jesus Christ I ask these things and I give thanks.

I Thank You in my Weakness

Matthew 11:25-26
At that time Jesus said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children.  Yes, Father, for this is what you were pleased to do.
God the Father does not work as the world works. When picking sports teams on a playground the strongest, fastest, and most skilled individuals get picked first. Yet, God chooses David to face Goliath. 1 Samuel 17:37 is part of David’s response to King Saul, reluctant to send David against Goliath, “The Lord who rescued me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear will rescue me from the hand of this Philistine.” Living for God is not about proving your own strength, it is living life counting on God’s strength. This is the child-like faith that we need.

What Have You Read Lately?

The Darkness

You walk into a dark unfamiliar room. You begin to run your hands over the walls feeling for the small switch that you can flip so you can see. Although your eyes are open, they may as well not be since you cannot see a darned thing. You keep feeling, knowing you will surely find it.

Time passes.

The room that once seemed so dark has seemed to lighten a bit. Maybe it is simply because you are now used to your surroundings. Your eyes have adjusted. That which seemed pitch black now feels normal. You have learned to be comfortable most of the time. Deep down you feel that just maybe their is something more glorious out there.

Today I read the verses below…and I began to think about the things above.
I have loved ones who seem blinded. They leave me thinking they like the dark rooms best. When you walk in like a candle in the night to shine some of God’s light they immediately try to blow you out. I began to think about my own history, my story. You see I too once lived in a very dark room. It felt like it was surely the same for everyone. If you have a friend or a loved one who cannot see the things the Lord God Almighty is doing right before our eyes. The word of God coming to pass and it seems so plain to you….and to me. You wonder, “why on earth can’t they see?” They cannot see because they are blinded just as the verses say below. What else do they say? WE are called to be the light of our Father. The person who came into my life did not stay long, but she shared the gospel and she gave me a great study bible. She was a stranger going around looking in the dark rooms for someone who needed to see. She may not have flipped the switch on for me but she was in there long enough that I was able to see the switch on the wall. When I was tired of living in the pit I could get up and cry out to God (flip the light switch on). We cannot save anyone but we can be a light in the darkness so that maybe the one who is temporarily blind might be able to run to Jesus when the veil is lifted. Our days are short…”dear Lord, help us to be bold and not afraid to walk into the darkness to help a brother or sister in their time of need.”

2 Corinthians 4:3-6

3 But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, 4 whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them. 5 For we do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord, and ourselves your bondservants for Jesus’ sake. 6 For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
