The True Christ vs. the Fake Christ (Pastor Charles Lawson)

Preaching for this generation.

God is Shaking America

This morning I was having coffee trying to wake up and planning to drive to Tennessee to visit grandkids and son and daughter in law who are serving in the military.

I also thought back on this day 34 years ago when my first son was born!  He is a fine man. Also serving in the military and based out of Norfolk.  He shook my world 34 years ago!  This morning sitting in our living room my morning violently shook again!   I am in my 50’s and about 5 years ago we had 2 earthquakes in Oklahoma within a 2 week period that I felt in Arkansas. First time I had ever felt one in Arkansas.   This morning again,  Oklahoma had a 5.6 and in our house we heard a loud roar and windows were rattling and it literally felt like a truck ran into our home!  I kid you not!  I screamed and ran to my husband who was in the bathroom,  and yelled WHAT WAS THAT?  He said, “it is an earthquake”!  I really thought something hit the house!

It is crazy.  I don’t care why it is explained.  Don’t care that people will say it’s fracking. Does it really matter?   Jesus Christ told us.  His word is true.  I can’t help but wonder if most people just blow it off.  We all better be taking inventory in our lives.   JESUS IS COMING BACK!

Matthew 24:4-8

And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. All these are the beginning of sorrows.

Let’s Clean Up and Be Ready!

James 4:8-10
Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.  Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom.  Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.

COMMENTARY

Make no mistake, God loves you. This verse is not a measure of God’s love for you, His love for you does not vary depending upon your closeness to Him. Whatever you feel for Him, or whatever you think of Him, He loves you right now. In order to grow in our relationship with God in Christ Jesus, we must “draw near to God”. (NKJV) This comes from repentance, and from choosing to live in the light. It is Jesus alone who washes us clean of our sin, and it is the power of God alone that purifies our hearts. We desperately need God, and that knowledge should humble us to live with gratitude.

In Need Of Help

Psalms 121:1-2

I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.
Thank you Lord JESUS Christ,  thank you that You have  given us all that we need.  Thank You that we have a God who cares and who hears our cries!

Gift to Give Your Child

There is but one gift that your child cannot outgrow.  This is the One gift that will grow with them as they grow.

Deuteronomy 6:6-9
These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts.  Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.  Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads.  Write them on the door frames of your houses and on your gates.

COMMENTARY
We have a responsibility to pass along the truth of who God is to our children. This is a “pull out all the stops” message. Do whatever it takes so that your children know that the Lord is God and there is no other! Constantly tell stories and relate your children’s experiences with stories that tell of God’s greatness. Let them know that they are part of a grand design, and that they are not alone! Speak to them with love and mercy, showing a collision of discipline, correction, and wisdom. Live your live in such a way that the gospel is on display, that they would meet Jesus!

True or False

image

I say it is true.   Regardless if you believe or not we each will have an expiration date.  Car wreck,  a disease,  a heart attack.  Murdered by a robbery.  A rapist who maybe only  murders your spirit.   People being kidnapped and chained up in darkness for sex slaves.  Maybe you are living where Christians are being persecuted,  beheaded,  crucified on crossses, stoned, burned alive,  fed to dogs.  I never would have dreamed this world would have went so far back into the dark ages.  People who have said the Holy Bible is out of date might want to read it and take another look at the sickness going on around the world and right here in America’s own backyard.
Crazy?   Don’t want to hear about this?  None of us like this but we have to face the truth.  The darkness that is all around us. THE end is going to come for all at once or on day by day timing.   Not one of us know exactly when but we do all need to face the fact that it will come one day and one way or another regardless of what you believe.  Be ready mentally and spiritually.  I pray you seek God,  the One True God who sent His son Jesus Christ to shed His own blood as He was crucified on the cross but was perfect and sinless but took on all of the horrific sins of mine and yours and everyone’s in the world.  Why?  So that we might live in the presence of a Holy God and not be thrown into an eternal pit of hell.  Hell is real.   I cry when I  think of tge horrific things going on right here in the here and now. It is heartbreaking.  He’ll will be far worse than any of us can imagine.   The worse day here no matter how grotesque or violent or sickening,  worse than the craziest horror movie you may have seen,  will not be able to compare to the burning hell that awaits ALL of us!  All who haven’t called upon the name of Jesus Christ for the salvation He freely offers. We each make our own decision.  You aren’t a bad person?   If hell is a real place then it is for the truly evil such as Hitler and others that we catagorize as being bad in our eyes and not for the person who really is not so bad you say?  Not true, God is Holy and no one can be in the presence of His Glory unless they have been cleansed by the blood of Jesus Christ.   Jesus died to make ATONEMENT for our sinfulness so that we could go to heaven and be with the Lord God who created each of us.  He loves us but cannot allow the filth of sin that is in and on each one of us to enter into eternity.  He is a just God and don’t we want to live in a place free from the evil that is here now?  We deceive ourselves if we think we don’t have sin.  That is self righteousness and is a huge sin itself.  It isn’t about what we can accomplish on our own and  by our own works and good deeds. It is ONLY about what Jesus Christ did on the cross for us. He did the work that is required.   We should do good things once we are saved but doing those good things or just being a good person will not…”repeat”, WILL NOT be able to get your name in the book of life at the entrance of Heaven.   You will certainly be welcomed with open arms into Hell.  They take everyone.   All who walk the broad road will not even need to have a book checked to see if your name is in it.  Too many will be storming in to keep track of the names. The evil will torment even the evildoers on earth.   I wonder if Hitler would chanel how he lived if he could?  I think of Luke 16:19-31, which explains very clearly how a man in hell desires urgently for someone to go and warn his brothers and family so they do not end up being tormented eternally as he was.  He  begged for someone to just touch his tongue with a drop if water.  If he could only have told his brothers, if he had only realized himself!   But the passage goes on to say that his family should listen to the prophets as they have all been warned and yet no one listens and no one cares so why would it be different if he told them?   They would laugh and scoff just as they still do today.   Read the passage in Luke noted above.  Pray on it.  Seek God concerning it. You say you don’t believe?   What IF it IS TRUE and you are wrong?  Do you really want to take that chance?   Your choice and mine.  I say, REPENT  today and turn to God Almighty while you still have the chance to.  Seek Him with all your heart and soul.   He is faithful to finish the work in you.  To change you and make you more than you ever dreamed you could be.  We may not know how the things we do have affected someone else for the good while we are here.  If you choose life and not death,  if you choose Jesus Christ then one day in Heaven we will then truly see everything God wants us to know and see about the trials and struggles we are seeing or going through ourselves.  We can see how coming through them allows us to comfort someone else going through the same.

The end of all things is at hand; therefore be self-controlled and sober-minded for the sake of your prayers.

Who Can Change a Man’s Heart?

1 Samuel 10:9
As Saul turned to leave Samuel, God changed Saul’s heart, and all these signs were fulfilled that day.

Commentary
When the prophet Samuel anoints Saul there are many things that he prophesies should happen to Saul in a very short time. All those signs come to pass. Today however, is all about the heart. The various translations offer new depth as we consider that it was God who changed Saul’s heart. Saul does not make himself what God requires, God makes Saul what is required. Likewise, God works the change in our hearts as we cry out to Him and seek Him. We do not change our own hearts, it is God who changes hearts.

The Clock Is About To Strike Midnight! So Why Sit Ye Here Idle???

God Telling Us Something Today?

I  just posted a verse a few minutes ago, (Mark 12:30) about loving the Lord God with all our heart,  soul and strength.  I turn around and received this one from one of my other apps on my phone.  In the commentary that came with it you will notice the same thing was said! So, we need to ask the Holy Spirit that searches all things to search our hearts and to show us any place that we are lacking and guide us in a way to repentance and correction.

Isaiah 29:13
The Lord says:“These people come near to me with their mouth and honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. Their worship of me is based on merely human rules they have been taught.

Commentary
God desires your heart. At some point in your life, there must be a moment when you encounter God for yourself. This does not dismantle or take away anything you have been taught, unless what you have been taught is a lie…or some empty shadow of the truth. God knows your heart, and desires for your heart to choose Him. Our worship of God must be driven by more than “man-made ritual” (NET) and “the commandment of men” (NKJV). Do not settle for going through the motions with God. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength.

Verse to Quiet the Soul

Psalm 23:1-3a
The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.  He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,  he refreshes my soul.

COMMENTARY
A shepherd looks after the well-being of his flock. Even though this is true, sheep sometimes wander. Our verse today comes from a sheep who recognizes the goodness of his shepherd, and lives covered under his care. There is a promise to meet our needs, a promise of restoration, and a promise of relationship; not only in this Psalm, but throughout scripture. Our amazing shepherd, Jesus Christ, has led us to salvation and he has promised rest for those for those who come to Him. This is not a rest promising an easy life, but it is rest with our Father who yearns to shepherd and restore us.
