Calm Down – Word of God Speaks

I am a little disturbed by many seemingly grounded Christians who have seemed to have went off the deep end of singing the praises of President Elect Donald Trump.  I am glad he won this election over the Clinton bunch.  Trump is merely a man.  If he does what he says he will do, God willing, then we could see good change.  If he appoints truly good people to the Supreme Court that in itself can have long term effects on the future of this nation.

I only want to have everyone who reads this to ask themselves a question.

Many have heard the ‘prophecy’ given by the fireman.  Many have been caught up in watching things unfold.  Many have prayed for Mr Trump and for America all across the world.  So many people have said, “Trump said he would build a wall and Ezekiel said that God sought a man that should make up a hedge (wall) and stand in the gap before me and my land.”  The Lord says BUT, I FOUND NONE.  The question we should be asking is…What does this all mean. Should brothers and sisters be putting on their party hats just yet?  Calm down and let’s continue to pray and watch.   Trump is merely a man.  Good intentions and plans,  maybe.  Could they be changed to something opposite along the way, possibly.  CALM DOWN,  stop singing Trump’s praises and keep looking for the One True Saviour,  Jesus Christ our Lord.

It appears the election has been won and sure we all felt a sense of relief and joy and give the glory to God.  We need to continue focusing on God and not Trump.   Keeping your eyes opened wide.

Ezekiel 22:30-31
And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.  Therefore have I poured out mine indignation upon them; I have consumed them with the fire of my wrath: their own way have I recompensed upon their heads, saith the Lord God.

Commentary

I imagine that God was looking for a man like Noah. Jerusalem is in a terrible state as we enter this verse, among the list of sinful practices is: princes using their power to shed blood, making idols, oppression of foreigners and mistreatment of the fatherless and the widow, desecrating the Sabbath, men committing detestable offenses against women. God sought a man to stand in the gap so that the Lord could enact change in Jerusalem and bring life where there is currently only sin and death. God found no man that could do this, and thus Jerusalem is delivered into the hand of Babylon.

Excitement of a Gift!

Soon the season of gift giving and receiving begins! Some love the shopping and some not so much.   I am in the not so much catagory.

As most of us get older I think we tend not to really need a lot.  Need love of our family and friends more than things.  So giving is so much more than receiving.

Even for children I think they receive something and are super happy and then within a week they have forgotten all about it and moved on.

Have you received the gift of eternal salvation from the Lord Jesus Christ?   Just as Christmas comes once a year, we also live in a time when we still have the ability to accept the free gift of salvation.   No it is not only available at Christmas BUT,  it will not be available forever.   When you are shopping you look for the sales.   You want to get a good deal.   When you see the sale on the hottest ticket item of the year then you hurry in so you do not miss the opportunity!   If you haven’t received the gift of salvation yet I urge you to look at it closely for a moment.

Several things might happen.   You might die tonight or tomorrow.   The age of grace might end.   The church age ends and tribulation begins.  Either way the free gift is no longer available.   The Christmas sale is over, so to speak.

Don’t take the chance!   Hurry into the arms of our Saviour Jesus Christ!   Accept His gift and ask Him to show you and teach you all that you don’t know.   Don’t think you need to know everything about the word of God first.  Don’t listen to the lies.  Our God is the greatest teacher of all.  He won’t leave you nor forsake you.  He is love.  He us everything.   But, the window will not be open forever.  Just as a sale ends, so does the age of grace.

Luke 19:9-10

And Jesus said unto him, This day is salvation come to this house, forsomuch as he also is a son of Abraham. For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.

Sweet Sound

May the sound of our praises be a sweet sweet sound in Your ear…

Psalm 63:5
I will be fully satisfied as with the richest of foods; with singing lips my mouth will praise you.

COMMENTARY

Lord God, we praise You! Many of us find ourselves in difficult times, whether it be financial, emotional, health, or otherwise. Lord, help us have the courage to praise You especially in these times of great need. You hear us and You know our needs perfectly! You have promised to provide for us, to not leave us alone. Help us to continually lift up our prayers to You fervently and with authentic hearts, expecting great things from You. Lord God, You are our sustenance and our portion. With You we have all we need and we give You thanks and glory forever. In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Facing Evil

When we are in trials and struggles and pure evil, look triumphantly because we know that no matter what we already have victory through Jesus Christ!

Psalm 54:6-7
I will sacrifice a freewill offering to you; I will praise your name, Lord, for it is good. You have delivered me from all my troubles, and my eyes have looked in triumph on my foes.

Commentary /prayer

Lord Jesus, I am so grateful that You loved me enough to endure the cost of sin. You gave Your life so that I may have eternal life, and You rescued my soul from certain death. Lord rise up, and deliver us from the evil that is within us! Lend us the courage to run to you when tempted in this life. We seek to remain in You Lord Jesus, and we trust in Your mighty grip on us that will never let us go. We praise You! Who else can deliver us!? Who else can perfectly know us!?

Nothing Changes

In the book of Daniel we read how our enemies beef is really against God, Jesus Christ.   They hate that we believe the laws of our living God.   The principles we stand on, the foundation is what they despise. John 2:22 When therefore He was risen from the dead,  His disciples remembered that He had said this unto them; and they believed the SCRIPTURE,  and the word which Jesus had said.

Daniel 6:3-5

<

p class=”text” style=”color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:medium;line-height:normal;”>Then this Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king thought to set him over the whole realm. Then the presidents and princes sought to find occasion against Daniel concerning the kingdom; but they could find none occasion nor fault; forasmuch as he was faithful, neither was there any error or fault found in him. Then said these men, We shall not find any occasion against this Daniel, except we find it against him concerning the law of his God.

Motives When Asking God

image

When asking the Lord for confirmation of something,  many say you shouldn’t and that is like questioning Him.  We must have the correct motives.  Seeking Him with all our heart and truly wanting His wisdom and guidance.   God will gladly answer that.   We see that in the scriptures below.

Judges 6:36-38
Gideon said to God, “If you will save Israel by my hand as you have promised—  look, I will place a wool fleece on the threshing floor. If there is dew only on the fleece and all the ground is dry, then I will know that you will save Israel by my hand, as you said.”  And that is what happened. Gideon rose early the next day; he squeezed the fleece and wrung out the dew—a bowlful of water.

COMMENTARY
Gideon is in the middle of a “doubting Thomas” moment here with God.  This makes me think of when the Pharisees would ask Jesus for a sign, and he would refuse them because of their motives.  Gideon wants to trust God fully, and this is an exercise in trust to build Gideon’s faith in God.  Gideon’s heart was open to God, and that served him well.  The hearts of the Pharisees and Jewish leaders of Jesus’ time; their hearts were not open to God.  They sought signs that served their own selfish motives, not God’s sovereign plan of redemption.

THEN WE HAVE..

Judges 6:39-40
Then Gideon said to God, “Do not be angry with me. Let me make just one more request. Allow me one more test with the fleece, but this time make the fleece dry and let the ground be covered with dew.”  That night God did so. Only the fleece was dry; all the ground was covered with dew.

COMMENTARY
Yesterday, we saw God graciously respond to Gideon’s request for a sign.  Today, we see Gideon ask for another sign regarding the fleece, and God AGAIN responds with affirmation that He will deliver Israel through Gideon.  This asking for a 2nd sign reveals a sense of how far God is willing to go for His children, and how willing and honest we can be with God as we walk with Him and are led by Him into the plans He has for us.  God is ever-revealing Himself to all people in so many ways.  Gideon was willing to share his need honestly, and God again extends grace and confirms the plan.
