We All Have a Favorite Part of the Body, but All Parts Are Needed.

  • Do you like your legs?
  • Maybe you say your hands have always looked young so that is your favorite.
  • I have always been told I have perfect toes and therefore my feet are something I thought looked good in sandals.:-)
  • Are you someone who always enjoyed a good session at the gym? Then maybe it is your biceps, great arms you like.
  • My point here is in our day to day worldly lives we tend to think about our body parts or those of the opposite sex.  “I am a leg man”, “oh, would you look at his strong arms”.  As we drawer closer to the Lord God, we begin to understand the spiritual side of the parts of the body.  God used some by their feet as they walk all over and share the gospel.  Some by their hands and arms as they reach out to strangers and lend help in times of need to those hurting and it is done in the name of Jesus Christ, and bringing glory to the Father. Maybe you don’t feel you do anything significant and think I only go to work and home again.  Yet maybe by an action of obedience to God those around you have seen Jesus even though you might have been unaware. I try to bring encouraging words to those around me.  Sometimes they don’t want to hear a positive spin but as they have time to think about it they do appreciate it. We show compassion, we show grace, we show mercy.  Most of all we are to show love.  By showing all these things we are showing love.  We can only show mercy and grace and compassion and love because our saviour Jesus Christ first loved us and had mercy on us and extends grace to us.  Without His loving us first not one of us could begin to be a functioning part of the body of Christ.  The man and woman who are leaving America to work in a part of the world to share Jesus Christ with those who have never heard of Him may seem to be the most important part of the body.  Is it not obvious that without the encouraging words of those in our everyday workplaces, and without those who help by extending compassion to those in a homeless shelter or a battered woman’s shelter. Without those who stop to give money to the man or woman with a sign who in standing on the corner of a busy street or standing at the end of the parking lot at Wal-Mart with a sign. Without those who stop and take a minute to simply speak a kind word to an elderly man or woman eating alone in a restaurant or maybe surprising them by secretly picking up their tab.  Maybe the person you took a minute to just speak a kind word to is a veteran from long ago and fought for our freedoms and just maybe they have no one now and just maybe you are the only one they might have the opportunity to interact with today.
  • If you are still reading this then you and I can both see how vitally important every part of the body of Christ is.  Just as our human bodies have different parts and some you never think about unless you hurt it and then you realize it plays a very important part.  So your heart seems really important and it is, but if you break even a little toe or a little finger you begin to learn how important that little part of your own body is. That little toe that you never thought twice about. We take for granted all the parts of our bodies when we feel great! Those times when we feel great is only because all parts of the body are functioning well.  I can’t help but think maybe when the bible speaks about how judgement will begin in the church, aka the body of Christ.  Maybe the body of Christ needs a Dr.  and Jesus is the great physician.  Maybe some of the body is not working well and that is some of why we see so much anger in the world.  I am certainly not saying that is totally why.  We know because of what the word of God says that these things will and are going to come to pass.  We also read that they will hate us but not because of us but because the world first hated Him.  Because we love Him they will also hate us.  Back to the body…We each play an important part regardless if you are a little toe or you are the heart.  Let’s all use the gift we were given. You might only have one gift or maybe 10.  If we are going to another nation or simply going to work everyday we each need to realize the importance that each one of us can play in the lives of those around us. WE ARE THE BODY!

Romans 12:4-8
For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office:  So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.  Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith;  Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching;  Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness.

Each of us who has come to believe in Jesus is a member of the body of Christ. Jesus is the “head” of His own body, so for those who were hoping for that role – it is already taken. This passage says “each member belongs to all the others”. Today I would like to you consider, in a very personal way, what that means. As we read on we find mention of various gifts being offered in service to the body of Christ, a direction that implies responsibility for each and every one of us. God has masterfully gifted each one of us in compliment to bring the body of Christ to completeness. Did you get that? The gift(s) you are given, those revealed to you and empowered by the Holy Spirit, those gift(s) have great purpose. Use them, and give God the glory!

Prayer for Mercy in Time of Trouble

Nothing, NOTHING I said!  Nothing is more powerful than the word of God Almighty!  Read this Psalm slowly. Let His word do its job on each one of us!  Pray Gods own words back to Him with a sincere attitude.  Cry out!

Psalm 6

1 O LORD, do not rebuke me in Your anger,

Nor chasten me in Your hot displeasure.

2 Have mercy on me, O LORD, for I am weak;

O LORD, heal me, for my bones are troubled.

3 My soul also is greatly troubled;

But You, O LORD—how long?

4 Return, O LORD, deliver me!

Oh, save me for Your mercies’ sake

5 For in death there is no remembrance of You;

In the grave who will give You thanks?

6 I am weary with my groaning;

All night I make my bed swim;

I drench my couch with my tears.

7 My eye wastes away because of grief;

It grows old because of all my enemies.

8 Depart from me, all you workers of iniquity;

For the LORD has heard the voice of my weeping.

9 The LORD has heard my supplication;

The LORD will receive my prayer.

10 Let all my enemies be ashamed and greatly troubled;

Let them turn back and be ashamed suddenly.

Hebrews 4:12

For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as division soul and spirit,of both joints and marrow and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

Do you believe the word of God?

Do you have faith that God will do what He says He will do?

I pray we each have the help of the Holy Spirit to hold on tightly to God and the the goodness He has given each of us!  Amen

Do you ever…..

Some days it feels like the world around us is so evil.

Some days it feels like we are spiraling out of control.

Some days it seems hope is so far away.

Some days it feels I am the only one believing on my God!

Some days it seems no one sees what is happening around them.

Some days it seems even worse, that no one cares to see what goes on around them.

One day they will.

One day all will see.

One day all will care.

One day it will be too late.

One day every knee will bow,

One day every tongue confess…

Let’s each start today…

One by one overcoming evil with good…

Romans 12:21

21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

Realize Yet Again How Small We Each Are….

When you fly in a plane and look down on all the highways and the cars and trains and trucks and buses and people walking. Then don’t forget all the houses and the office buildings and skyscrapers.

Now…..stop and think….ask yourself….

Is it really all about me? There are so many out there just like you and me. We each are going through our own struggles. Not one of us is without one.

Do you really think there is not a God? Do you really believe you are the only one facing hurt and torment? Saddness? Joy? Are you really the only one shedding tears? The only one with a broken heart?

We are each and every one in need of a savior. Ask Jesus today to come into your life.

God bless each one of you…..

About three years ago I started a new Christmas tradition. My grandchildren are all living in other states because my sons serve in the US Navy. It is hard to share things with your grandchildren that have meaning with 1,300 miles between you.

For many years I was a single mother. When I say single I mean the ONLY parent in two boys lives. My dad passed away when I was 27 and my oldest son was 10 and my youngest was 4. My dad was the only good constant male model my oldest ever knew. My mom was still living but she was lost without my dad. She had a horrible childhood and my dad met her when she was 19 and married her within the first month. He was the only person good in her life and so she went off the deep end which left me completely on my own with two boys counting on me.

I should have already been grown up (but always had in the back of my mind my daddy would always toss me a few dollars when I needed it-which he did and without me asking, he simply just knew).

I am simply saying I had my share of hard times and it was usually due to poor choices and not really knowing the Lord. This was about the time I learned to not only lean on a God I did not really know but also got to know Him.

When you do not have anything and no where to turn you have two choices….continue falling and taking my kids no where fast or look up and cling to God, my true Father.

God blessed me and my boys so much through every little bad time even when they felt scary and overwhelming. I want to pass that on now that my oldest is 30 and not 10 I have seen Gods grace and mercy and blessings.

I was never a mom who put her kids on an angel tree or asked for any help. We had what we had. We were budgeted to the last dollar. One gallon of milk had to last all week because there was no more. My kids did not get great presents at Christmas and were excited to open up new socks.

I do give at work for families who are on angel trees and food banks but my personal thing is for families as I was. Nothing wrong with angel trees but I always thought that was for people who were really in need. We had beans and potatoes for food and had a roof over our head and therefore were not in need.

I get Christmas cards, 2 or 3 for me and one for my granddaughter. I put a written note inside the card (obviously I don’t know their need). I pray God gives me the right scripture to put in the card AND put cash in the card. I go out to a Wal-Mart or something on the Friday before Christmas. I chose that day because when I was a struggling mom I might have to take a few dollars from that final paycheck before Christmas to buy that one little thing my child will get or something for your meal to make it feel a little more special than the normal brown beans. My granddaughter takes hers out and finds that special person the Holy Spirit sends her way and I take mine out. This year I was able to put $100.00 in each card. I wrote in the card if they don’t need the money then pass it to someone who does but that the scripture written in the card is a word from God to them. I know no matter if it is the money or God’s word or simply seeing someone do something kind in this selfish mean world that God is meeting their need. I know when God shows me the person to give it to and sometimes it takes a little searching but when I know I know.

In my past that would have been huge if someone walked up to me and simply said Merry Christmas and handed me a card and then walked away. I would have no doubt known the…$ and the verse…God’s word were message from Him and delivered from a stranger with no strings attached! I LOVE IT….it is simply the highlight of my Christmas every year!

God bless you and your family!

I have been yet again questioning myself.

I know my motives start out being for all the right reasons.

How often to I find myself fighting for a cause that I know God would want me to fight for and then suddenly I feel like I am on a NEVER ENDING carnival ride.  I love rides but just like too much of a good thing you can begin to get sick.  I have to think if I were on my favorite roller coaster in the world I would not want to stay on that thing FOREVER.

My struggle has lately been to jump on the train of righteousness.  You know, the train that has a horn blowing that screams “ARE YOU KIDDING ME—THIS IS THE USA!”  The train where all the other patriots have jumped on before me and then I have helped OUR—MY—cause and managed to get even more on that train after me. I feel that I find myself so amazed that “we” have ended up where we are that I get busy with intentions of changing people and getting them to open their eyes that before long I no longer have my eyes on that which got me started to begin with.

Hebrews 2:1  WARNING TO PAY ATTENTION: We must pay more careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away.

Hebrews 12:14-15  Make every effort to live in peace with all men and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord.  See to it that no one misses the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many.

We are a divided USA today.  If we stay like we are and work so hard at fighting and trying to make people see that MY-OUR way is the right way then we miss the entire thing.  It becomes my agenda.  Today I have just been thinking that God wants us to live according to His word.  I must be more careful in doing that.  I must put Him first and live according to the law of the land.  I believe God intended it to be this way so that maybe more people will come to Christ.  If we stay divided and the patriots on one train and all others on another train then when do we come together?  We most likely will not win anyone over that way.  What kind of examples will we be?  Is it really any different from sitting in church and a poor man comes in and a rich man comes in and everyone helps the rich man find a seat in the front of the church and they all look the other way so as not to see the poor man?

God will use us to make a difference in this world by example and not by standing up kicking and screaming all the way.  The way of the train will only continue the division and cause us to lose sight of what we are standing for to begin with.  If I say I am a Christian then I must act like one.  I must live a life that does not demand things be my way (you know, the RIGHT WAY–KIDDING).  I must get out of God’s way.  I cannot change the direction this world is going but HE can.

Matthew 19:26  Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.  I believe this with all my heart and soul!  I have seen it with my eyes more than once!

Please, I ask that anyone who reads this will please pray for me.  Pray that I get out and stay out of His way.  Pray that I don’t take my eyes off of Him.  Pray that I have myself opened up daily for Him to use me for His kingdom.

Thank you and may God bless each one of you and your families,
