A New Name for the Glory of God

Philippians 1:12-16

But I would ye should understand, brethren, that the things which happened unto me have fallen out rather unto the furtherance of the gospel; So that my bonds in Christ are manifest in all the palace, and in all other places; And many of the brethren in the Lord, waxing confident by my bonds, are much more bold to speak the word without fear. Some indeed preach Christ even of envy and strife; and some also of good will: The one preach Christ of contention, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my bonds:

Commentary

Paul is writing to the church at Philippi from prison, explaining how his imprisonment has led to the advance of the gospel. Because of the integrity of Paul everyone knows that he’s in chains for Christ. Paul is not ashamed of the gospel, and has embraced the new creation that he is in Christ. Paul was not always for God – so much so that he got a name change. God uses all things for His good. Paul goes to prison, people get saved. What seems like persecution and the enemy winning proves to be God’s plan to extend mercy and salvation toward the unlikely and unworthy.

Reaching for the Arms of Our Father

Acts 17:26-28

And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation; That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us: For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.

Commentary

Take an extra moment today and let this sink into your heart. Noah was the man that all nations were made from, a man who found favor in the eyes of God. This verse indicates that God has setup history as a divine outworking of a plan filled with mercy, grace, and opportunity for us to seek Him as our loving Father. My heart leaps each time my children reach for me, something I cannot express in words. God set everything up so that we would have every opportunity to reach for him, just like a little child would reach for a parent. Reach and cry out “Abba!” Daddy!

The Lion and The Lamb

Exactly what formed my opinion or my thought? Honestly I am certainly not alone. I find it interesting to ask someone. “You know that verse in the bible that talks about how a lion and a lamb will lie together?” They ALWAYS say, “Oh YES!” I love it when you can say, “well, that is not what it says”. As a matter of fact I did that yesterday with a coworker. She had a bible on her desk and so I said get your bible and see what it says. She did and she read it. The look on her face was priceless. NOW, let me be clear, I certainly had the same look of bewilderment on my face when I first became aware of this. I was in the privacy of my home in personal study instead of someone telling me about it. It was a couple of years ago when I realized this was incorrect memory of scripture . Really, I never memorized it, but it was just a thing in my mind where I thought that was what scripture said because I always heard that. BUT WHY? Why do so many say the bible has been changed? Well, I ran across a comment someone made on a video I was watching. I am so glad that I saw it! It cleared up the MYSTERY! I am in my 50’s! The commenter had said the Lion and the Lamb was written in the well known literature by Mark Twain. This is classic literature right? Who hasn’t had to study and read that book at some point in school? Who maybe has even watched the movie? The comment didn’t say where it was in the book so I went on a search. Finally I found it. It is in chapter 5 of The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. Below I have copied it from the online book I found. I would ask you to read the short part.

Ask yourself, is it possible that most of us believed that is what was written in the bible although many of us probably at one time couldn’t have told you where it was, but we thought it because of this book we were ALMOST ALL exposed to growing up? I find it interesting that in a fictional book we would all cling so closely in our minds to something written it it as truth. Why? Is it because it was a fictional pastor who said it in the fictional book?

Now that we know why that might be in our minds I would challenge everyone to go out and ask your bible savvy friends if they like the verse about the lion and the lamb and if they don’t call you out on it then tell them they are incorrect and that it says wolf and ask them to look up verse Isaiah 11:6 And read it.

Then, share what just might be the reason why.

The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. …taken from chapter 5- by Mark Twain

The minister gave out his text and droned along monotonously through an argument that was so prosy that many a head by and by began to nod —and yet it was an argument that dealt in limitless fire and brimstone and tdownhinned the predestined elect down to a company so small as to be hardly worth the saving. Tom counted the pages of the sermon; after church he always knew how many pages there had been, but he seldom knew anything else about the discourse. However, this time he was really interested for a little while. The minister made a grand and moving picture of the assembling together of the world’s hosts at the millennium when the lion and the lamb should lie down together and a little child should lead them. But the pathos, the lesson, the moral of the great spectacle were lost upon the boy; he only thought of the conspicuousness of the principal character before the on–looking nations; his face lit with the thought, and he said to himself that he wished he could be that child, if it was a tame lion.

Here is what the scripture actually says.

Isaiah 11:6 KJV
The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them.

NASB VERSION

And the wolf will dwell with the lamb,
And the leopard will lie down with the young goat,
And the calf and the young lion and the fatling together;
And a little boy will lead them.

American Standard Version

And the wolf shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them.

Isaiah 51:7-8 KJVS
Hearken unto me, ye that know righteousness, the people in whose heart is my law; fear ye not the reproach of men, neither be ye afraid of their revilings.

Netanyahu Confirms Israel To Withdraw From UNESCO

From:Behold Israel. ..December 24th 2017.

Again, I say keep watching, keep praying.

Israel to follow United States in withdrawing from UNESCO; Netanyahu addresses Abbas, end of peace process; Abbas met with Macron in Paris, claims US “has proven to be a dishonest mediator in the peace process,” Dec. 24, 2017.

In his weekly cabinet meeting on Sunday, Prime Minister Netanyahu confirmed that Israel would follow the United States and withdraw from UNESCO, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, at the end of this year.

The prime minister confirmed over the weekend that he instructed Israel’s Foreign Ministry “to withdraw from UNESCO,” stating Sunday “I think that this is appropriate, given this organization’s biased, one-sided and absurd attitude toward us, and against the background of the US’s strong stand at the UN, which we welcome.”

Prime Minister Netanyahu also addressed Abbas’s announcement on Friday that the United States was a “dishonest mediator in the peace process”. Netanyahu stated Sunday “He [Abbas] declared that he is quitting the process and, in effect, is not interested in any proposal that the US might submit. I think that once again it is becoming clear: It is the Palestinians who do not want to resolve this conflict.”

Netanyahu added “The US has said something else that is very important: The root of the general conflict in the Middle East does not lie in Israel, but in Iran and in radical Islam and the terrorism that it inspires. All of these are the true reasons that have been revealed to everyone. Whoever sees clearly and has integrity cannot deny them.”

The U.S. State Department confirmed the United States’ withdrawal from UNESCO in October of this year after the organization adopted several resolutions denying Jewish and Israeli heritage to religious sites in Israel, mainly Jerusalem. It announced it would remain a “non-member state” as to in “contribute U.S. views, perspectives and expertise on some of the important issues undertaken by the organization, including the protection of world heritage, advocating for press freedoms, and promoting scientific collaboration and education.”

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas met with French President Emanuel Macron in Paris Friday, their meeting part of the Palestinian’s efforts to find a new peace broker in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, as well as lobby support against Israel and the United States.

Abbas again announced on Friday that “The United States has proven to be a dishonest mediator in the peace process and we will no longer accept any plan from it,” and claimed that the Palestinians have “trust” in France and that “We respect the efforts made by you and we count heavily on your efforts.”

On President Trump’s announcement that American aid would be cut from countries that vote for the resolution against the United States’ recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, Abbas stated he “hoped that the others will learn the lesson and understand that you cannot impose solutions by using money and trying to buy off countries.”

Macron stated that France would not make a unilateral decision on a future Palestinian state without approval of the European Union, criticizing the United States for its decision on Jerusalem stating, “The American mistake was to want to unilaterally manage from afar a situation whose solution is in the hands of the Israelis and Palestinians… The Americans have marginalized themselves and I am trying to not do the same thing.”

Last week, Abbas sent two Palestinian Authority delegations to China and Russia in efforts to find a “new international sponsor for the peace process”, the PA confirming “The two delegations will convey a message from President Abbas to Russia and China, the purpose of which is to find a new international sponsor for the peace process, in the framework of the United Nations, in order to replace the American sponsorship.”

Around the same time, Russia offered to replace the United States as an “honest mediator” to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Russia’s Deputy Ambassador to the United Nations, Vladimir Safronkov, made the offer following the United Nations Security Council vote on Jerusalem on Monday. According to Russian media, he stated “We [Russia] are ready to become an honest mediator here.”

Prime Minister Netanyahu rejected the United Nations General Assembly vote denouncing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.

Referring to the United Nations as the “theater of the absurd”, Prime Minister Netanyahu dismissed the “preposterous resolution”, thanking the countries that voted against, abstained or did not vote.

He stated in a televised address on Thursday night following the vote “Israel completely rejects this preposterous resolution. Jerusalem is our capital. Always was, always will be. But I do appreciate the fact that a growing number of countries refused to participate in this theater of the absurd. So I appreciate that, and especially I want to again express our thanks to President Trump and Ambassador Haley, for their stalwart defense of Israel and their stalwart defense of the truth.”

Of the 193-members of the General Assembly, a total of 128 countries voted in favor of the resolution. The United States, Israel, Guatemala, Honduras, Marshall Islands, Nauru, Micronesia, Palau and Togo voted against the resolution, with 35 countries abstaining.

PA, Hamas and Arab League warn against US recognizing Jerusalem as capital of Israel;

At the bottom of article….

Trump Administration reportedly began notify its ambassadors in the Middle East, with reports claiming the President will make the announcement on Wednesday.

Hamas calls to “revive the intifada”, PA claims move would push “region into instability”, Nov. 3, 2017.

The Palestinian Authority warned the United States against recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, claiming it “destroys” the peace process.

Palestinian Authority Mahmoud Abbas sent a delegation to Washington on Friday to meet with President Trump’s senior advisor, Jared Kushner. During their meeting, senior Palestinian officials Saeb Erekat and Majed Faraj warned the United States against moving the US Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, as well as against official recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.

The Palestinian Authority claims Jerusalem should be the capital of a future Palestinian State, Israel consistently clear that no negotiations would be held on changing Jerusalem’s status as the eternal capital of the Jewish State.

A spokesman for Palestinian Authority Mahmoud Abbas stated ahead the PA-Kushner meeting in Washington, “The American recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel destroys the peace process. The American recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and moving the American embassy to Jerusalem involves the same level of danger to the future of the peace process and pushes the region into instability.”

Hamas also warned both the United States and Israel on such a move, calling on the Palestinian people to “revive the intifada”. It stated “We warn against such a move and call on the Palestinian people to revive the intifada if these unjust decisions on Jerusalem are adopted.”

The Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, also warned against such decision, claiming that recognition of Jerusalem would lead to violence and only benefits the Israeli government. He stated on Saturday “Today we say very clearly that taking such action is not justified… it will not serve peace or stability, but will fuel extremism and resort to violence. It only benefits one side; the Israeli government that is hostile to peace.”

The Trump Administration reportedly began notify its ambassadors in the Middle East, with reports claiming the President will make the announcement on Wednesday. President Trump is expected to sign the Jerusalem Embassy Act, a law passed in 1995 to move the embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. The law can be bypassed if waived by the President every six months.

Oh, To Praise Our God

Psalm 107:8-9

Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men! For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness.

Commentary

Lord God, we praise You today for Your incredible faithfulness and unfailing love. It is You Lord who has made it possible for us to know You, and to be in relationship with You – our loving Father. When we thirst, we can run to You with great confidence and sure hope. Thank You Lord, that I thirst for You. Thank You Lord, that when I am weak, You are strong enough to lead me back to You. No words are great enough to describe Your goodness. Thank You for choosing to be our God.

Could It Be? Jewish and Love Jesus?

Could this passage be referring to the Messianic Jews? Below is an updated radio interview with those who know more about it than I ever could. (Not about us folks.) Listen to the clip and then read these scriptures.

LUKE 21:12-17

But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name’s sake. And it shall turn to you for a testimony. Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate before what ye shall answer: For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist. And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death. And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake.
