Salvation – What Am I Missing

Romans 10:8 KJV

But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;
(Connects to)
Deuteronomy 30:14 KJV
But the word is very nigh unto thee, in thy mouth, and in thy heart, that thou mayest do it.

Romans 10:9-13 KJV

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
[10] For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
[11] For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
[12] For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. (This IS NOT saying that all people’s God is the same . Rather this is saying all who call upon the Lord Jesus Christ. No matter your background or anything, Jesus Christ died for all who will receive the ONLY true salvation. )
[13] For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

(So, what happened to the orthodox Jew and why do they insist on another temple-a third temple?) READ ON
Romans 10:16-21 KJV
But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?
[17] So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
[18] But I say, Have they not heard? Yes verily, their sound went into all the earth, and their words unto the ends of the world.
[19] But I say, Did not Israel know? First Moses saith, I will provoke you to jealousy by them that are no people, and by a foolish nation I will anger you.
[20] But Esaias is very bold, and saith, I was found of them that sought me not; I was made manifest unto them that asked not after me.
[21] But to Israel he saith, All day long I have stretched forth my hands unto a disobedient and gainsaying people.

COMMENTARY FROM STUDY BIBLE
10:18-20 Many Jews who looked for the Messiah refused to believe in him when he came. God offered his salvation to the Gentiles (“people who were not looking for me”); thus, many Gentiles who didn’t even know about a Messiah found and believed in him. Some religious people are spiritually blind, while those who have never been in a church are sometimes the most responsive to God’s message. Because appearances are deceiving, and we can’t see into people’s hearts, beware of judging beforehand who will respond to the Good News and who will not.

A New Name for the Glory of God

Philippians 1:12-16

But I would ye should understand, brethren, that the things which happened unto me have fallen out rather unto the furtherance of the gospel; So that my bonds in Christ are manifest in all the palace, and in all other places; And many of the brethren in the Lord, waxing confident by my bonds, are much more bold to speak the word without fear. Some indeed preach Christ even of envy and strife; and some also of good will: The one preach Christ of contention, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my bonds:

Commentary

Paul is writing to the church at Philippi from prison, explaining how his imprisonment has led to the advance of the gospel. Because of the integrity of Paul everyone knows that he’s in chains for Christ. Paul is not ashamed of the gospel, and has embraced the new creation that he is in Christ. Paul was not always for God – so much so that he got a name change. God uses all things for His good. Paul goes to prison, people get saved. What seems like persecution and the enemy winning proves to be God’s plan to extend mercy and salvation toward the unlikely and unworthy.

Reaching for the Arms of Our Father

Acts 17:26-28

And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation; That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us: For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.

Commentary

Take an extra moment today and let this sink into your heart. Noah was the man that all nations were made from, a man who found favor in the eyes of God. This verse indicates that God has setup history as a divine outworking of a plan filled with mercy, grace, and opportunity for us to seek Him as our loving Father. My heart leaps each time my children reach for me, something I cannot express in words. God set everything up so that we would have every opportunity to reach for him, just like a little child would reach for a parent. Reach and cry out “Abba!” Daddy!
