1. Practical (overcome trials not having you free from them)

2. Divine (beyond common sense, common sense does not lead you to joy in the midst of trials)

3. Christ like (asking for wisdom from God is asking to be Christ like and not self centered or looking for wisdom for revenge )

Reaching for the Arms of Our Father

Acts 17:26-28

And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation; That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us: For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.

Commentary

Take an extra moment today and let this sink into your heart. Noah was the man that all nations were made from, a man who found favor in the eyes of God. This verse indicates that God has setup history as a divine outworking of a plan filled with mercy, grace, and opportunity for us to seek Him as our loving Father. My heart leaps each time my children reach for me, something I cannot express in words. God set everything up so that we would have every opportunity to reach for him, just like a little child would reach for a parent. Reach and cry out “Abba!” Daddy!

Breaking It Down – Psalm 1:1

Psalm 1:1 KJVS

Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.

My thoughts : First part of the verse, saying if you walk NOT in the council of those who are ungodly. Let’s simply say; we shouldn’t be heeding the advice of those who clearly don’t know God and His word. If you find yourself needing help in direction concerning a life problem, we should pray, seek answers as we read the word of God. If we find we need more discernment then seek truly godly friends out, seek council from a good pastor or seek christian counseling. (If you are going with a christian counselor it us important to ask about what type of belief they have. What makes them put “christian” in the title of their work. All those calling themselves christian are not all the same. If you are a rose and your counselor is a daisy, you are both flowers but are clearly different flowers altogether. Some Christians may have more ‘new age’ doctrine and if you are truly following Jesus Christ of the bible you certainly don’t want to get any direction from a new age belief system. (Only saying don’t fall prey to anyone calling themselves christian.)

The next part: nor standing in the way of sinners.

What exactly does that mean? Possibly it means not to constantly be nagging a loved one concerning their choices. If they are not saved but are living in the world they simply are not going to gain anything out of YOU telling them constantly that they are going to burn in hell if they do this or that. We can let them know what we believe and why and then just live our lives accordingly so they can SEE what that looks like. While it is hard to watch those we love make bad choices I think we should pray for them and just be there for them on that day they approach you and ask, “so why are you happy, or is your God really able to help me, or I know you are a seemingly good person so what would you do?” When desperate they will go to a person they can trust and not all those friends who let them down. Don’t burn your bridge by being a I TOLD YOU TO STOP YOUR WICKED WAYS. Maybe that also goes into the last part too. Don’t sit in the seat of the scornful. Sometimes we can get on our so called high horse if not careful and humble. Remember we are living in a world full of unbelievers. We can’t just say…you better do this or that and expect them to suddenly awake to the truth of God. Be an example everyday. Sometimes we try to scare them into heaven. Unless the Holy Spirit penetrates their heart they won’t GET IT. Don’t be angry because they ignore or push you away. Simply, pray always for their salvation and seek God and if given an opportunity to share then pray you are prepared.

But now thus saith the Lord that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine.

[25] I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins.

[26] Put me in remembrance: let us plead together: declare thou, that thou mayest be justified.

[27] Thy first father hath sinned, and thy teachers have transgressed against me.

[28] Therefore I have profaned the princes of the sanctuary, and have given Jacob to the curse, and Israel to reproaches.

Commentary from study bible..

43:1ff Chapter 42 ends with God’s sorrow over the spiritual decay of his people. In chapter 43, God says that despite the people’s spiritual failure, he will show them mercy, bring them back from captivity, and restore them. He would give them an outpouring of love, not wrath. Then the world would know that God alone had done this.

43:1-4 God created the people of Israel, and they were special to him. God redeemed them and called them by name to be those who belong to him. God protected Israel in times of trouble. We are important to God, too. If we claim to belong to God, we must never do anything that would bring shame to him.

43:2 Going through rivers of difficulty will either cause you to drown or force you to grow stronger. If you go in your own strength, you are more likely to drown. If you invite the Lord to go with you, he will protect you.

43:3 God gave other nations to Persia in exchange for returning the Jews to their homeland. Egypt, Ethiopia, and parts of Arabia (Seba) had attacked Persia, and the Persians defeated them.

43:5, 6 Isaiah was speaking primarily of Israel’s return from Babylon. But there is a broader meaning: All God’s people will be regathered when Christ comes to rule in peace over the earth.

43:10, 11 Israel’s task was to be a witness (44:8), telling the world who God is and what he had done. Believers today share the responsibility of being God’s witnesses. Do people know what God is like through your words and example? They cannot see God directly, but they can see him reflected in you.

43:15-21 This section pictures a new Exodus for a people once again oppressed, as the Israelites had been as slaves in Egypt before the Exodus. They would cry to God, and again he would hear and deliver them. A new Exodus would take place through a new wilderness. The past miracles were nothing compared to what God would do for his people in the future.

43:22-24 A sacrifice required both giving up a valuable animal and pleading with God for forgiveness. But the people presented God with sins instead of sacrifices. Can you imagine bringing the best of your sins to God’s altar? This ironic picture shows the depths to which Israel had sunk. What do you present to God—your sins or a plea for his forgiveness?

43:25 How tempting it is to remind someone of a past offense! But when God forgives our sins, he totally forgets them. We never have to fear that he will remind us of them later. Because God forgives our sins, we need to forgive others.

Psalm 23

​The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:

He leadeth me beside the still waters.

He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,

I will fear no evil: for thou art with me;

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies:

Word of God Speak

I need comfort today.  I have had a sadness about myself lately.  Maybe it is the world that tries to suffocate us. Maybe work is consuming us.  Maybe so.  When we seek comfort from God and we are desiring to draw near and we hope to find an encouraging word, just maybe we hear a word that is a gift if understood.  Sometimes we need to STOP and take a look within, take an internal audit.  Yes, the Lord God speaks to us in many ways.  Dear Lord God, I give thanks unto You for all of the ways You choose to speak to me.  Your ways are always the best.

But where are thy gods that thou hast made thee? let them arise, if they can save thee in the time of thy trouble: for according to the number of thy cities are thy gods, O Judah.

We All Have a Favorite Part of the Body, but All Parts Are Needed.

• Do you like your legs?
• Maybe you say your hands have always looked young so that is your favorite.
• I have always been told I have perfect toes and therefore my feet are something I thought looked good in sandals.:-)
• Are you someone who always enjoyed a good session at the gym? Then maybe it is your biceps, great arms you like.
• My point here is in our day to day worldly lives we tend to think about our body parts or those of the opposite sex.  “I am a leg man”, “oh, would you look at his strong arms”.  As we drawer closer to the Lord God, we begin to understand the spiritual side of the parts of the body.  God used some by their feet as they walk all over and share the gospel.  Some by their hands and arms as they reach out to strangers and lend help in times of need to those hurting and it is done in the name of Jesus Christ, and bringing glory to the Father. Maybe you don’t feel you do anything significant and think I only go to work and home again.  Yet maybe by an action of obedience to God those around you have seen Jesus even though you might have been unaware. I try to bring encouraging words to those around me.  Sometimes they don’t want to hear a positive spin but as they have time to think about it they do appreciate it. We show compassion, we show grace, we show mercy.  Most of all we are to show love.  By showing all these things we are showing love.  We can only show mercy and grace and compassion and love because our saviour Jesus Christ first loved us and had mercy on us and extends grace to us.  Without His loving us first not one of us could begin to be a functioning part of the body of Christ.  The man and woman who are leaving America to work in a part of the world to share Jesus Christ with those who have never heard of Him may seem to be the most important part of the body.  Is it not obvious that without the encouraging words of those in our everyday workplaces, and without those who help by extending compassion to those in a homeless shelter or a battered woman’s shelter. Without those who stop to give money to the man or woman with a sign who in standing on the corner of a busy street or standing at the end of the parking lot at Wal-Mart with a sign. Without those who stop and take a minute to simply speak a kind word to an elderly man or woman eating alone in a restaurant or maybe surprising them by secretly picking up their tab.  Maybe the person you took a minute to just speak a kind word to is a veteran from long ago and fought for our freedoms and just maybe they have no one now and just maybe you are the only one they might have the opportunity to interact with today.  
• If you are still reading this then you and I can both see how vitally important every part of the body of Christ is.  Just as our human bodies have different parts and some you never think about unless you hurt it and then you realize it plays a very important part.  So your heart seems really important and it is, but if you break even a little toe or a little finger you begin to learn how important that little part of your own body is. That little toe that you never thought twice about. We take for granted all the parts of our bodies when we feel great! Those times when we feel great is only because all parts of the body are functioning well.  I can’t help but think maybe when the bible speaks about how judgement will begin in the church, aka the body of Christ.  Maybe the body of Christ needs a Dr.  and Jesus is the great physician.  Maybe some of the body is not working well and that is some of why we see so much anger in the world.  I am certainly not saying that is totally why.  We know because of what the word of God says that these things will and are going to come to pass.  We also read that they will hate us but not because of us but because the world first hated Him.  Because we love Him they will also hate us.  Back to the body…We each play an important part regardless if you are a little toe or you are the heart.  Let’s all use the gift we were given. You might only have one gift or maybe 10.  If we are going to another nation or simply going to work everyday we each need to realize the importance that each one of us can play in the lives of those around us. WE ARE THE BODY!

Romans 12:4-8
For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office:  So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.  Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith;  Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching;  Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness.

Commentary

Each of us who has come to believe in Jesus is a member of the body of Christ. Jesus is the “head” of His own body, so for those who were hoping for that role – it is already taken. This passage says “each member belongs to all the others”. Today I would like to you consider, in a very personal way, what that means. As we read on we find mention of various gifts being offered in service to the body of Christ, a direction that implies responsibility for each and every one of us. God has masterfully gifted each one of us in compliment to bring the body of Christ to completeness. Did you get that? The gift(s) you are given, those revealed to you and empowered by the Holy Spirit, those gift(s) have great purpose. Use them, and give God the glory!

That brings tears to my eyes.  Just thinking about singing the song.  My heart filling with joy, joy of the Lord!  Knowing He was watching over us.  Taking care of us.  This once great nation.

So much has happened over the years.  So much more than my mind could have or would have ever conceived.

God gave us space.  He gave us room.  He has been more than patient.

How much more?  I have to turn to scripture.  Let us see what God has done in times past.  (Before I go on, let me just say that if you don’t believe in God then read it anyway.  Why?  Maybe one day you will remember what you have read and maybe then you will believe.  You see, God wishes none to parish and therefore maybe the things that are about to come upon this once great land will cause many to repent and be saved.

Let’s remember that today this once great nation has erected the Arch of Triumph?  Or the doorway to Baal.  Yes, one in the same.  So, how much more?  Let us take a look deeper into the past. 

I am not saying we are at the end.  America could be.  The world?  No, not the world just yet.  But, will America go soon?  Will she be gone in a day?  In an hour?

We can all remember that Israel became a nation again in a day…who ever heard of such a thing?  Pray….God have mercy on us all.

2Ki 17:8　　And walked in the statutes of the heathen, whom the LORD cast out from before the children of Israel, and of the kings of Israel, which they had made.

2Ki 17:9　　And the children of Israel did secretly those things that were not right against the LORD their God, and they built them high places in all their cities, from the tower of the watchmen to the fenced city.

2Ki 17:10　　And they set them up images and groves in every high hill, and under every green tree:

2Ki 17:11　　And there they burnt incense in all the high places, as did the heathen whom the LORD carried away before them; and wrought wicked things to provoke the LORD to anger:

2Ki 17:12　　For they served idols, whereof the LORD had said unto them, Ye shall not do this thing.

2Ki 17:15　　And they rejected his statutes, and his covenant that he made with their fathers, and his testimonies which he testified against them; and they followed vanity, and became vain, and went after the heathen that were round about them, concerning whom the LORD had charged them, that they should not do like them.

2Ki 17:16　　And they left all the commandments of the LORD their God, and made them molten images, even two calves, and made a grove, and worshipped all the host of heaven, and served Baal.

2Ki 17:17　　And they caused their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire, and used divination and enchantments, and sold themselves to do evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger.

Psa 106:37　　Yea, they sacrificed their sons and their daughters unto devils,

Psa 106:38　　And shed innocent blood, even the blood of their sons and of their daughters, whom they sacrificed unto the idols of Canaan: and the land was polluted with blood.

Jer 19:4　　Because they have forsaken me, and have estranged this place, and have burned incense in it unto other gods, whom neither they nor their fathers have known, nor the kings of Judah, and have filled this place with the blood of innocents;

Jer 19:5　　They have built also the high places of Baal, to burn their sons with fire for burnt offerings unto Baal, which I commanded not, nor spake it, neither came it into my mind:

Jer 19:6　　Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that this place shall no more be called Tophet, nor The valley of the son of Hinnom, but The valley of slaughter.

Jer 19:7　　And I will make void the counsel of Judah and Jerusalem in this place; and I will cause them to fall by the sword before their enemies, and by the hands of them that seek their lives: and their carcases will I give to be meat for the fowls of the heaven, and for the beasts of the earth.

Jer 19:8　　And I will make this city desolate, and an hissing; every one that passeth thereby shall be astonished and hiss because of all the plagues thereof.

Jer 19:9　　And I will cause them to eat the flesh of their sons and the flesh of their daughters, and they shall eat every one the flesh of his friend in the siege and straitness, wherewith their enemies, and they that seek their lives, shall straiten them.

Jer 19:10　　Then shalt thou break the bottle in the sight of the men that go with thee,

Jer 19:11　　And shalt say unto them, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Even so will I break this people and this city, as one breaketh a potter’s vessel, that cannot be made whole again: and they shall bury them in Tophet, till there be no place to bury.

Jer 19:12　　Thus will I do unto this place, saith the LORD, and to the inhabitants thereof, and even make this city as Tophet:

Jer 19:13　　And the houses of Jerusalem, and the houses of the kings of Judah, shall be defiled as the place of Tophet, because of all the houses upon whose roofs they have burned incense unto all the host of heaven, and have poured out drink offerings unto other gods.

Jer 19:14　　Then came Jeremiah from Tophet, whither the LORD had sent him to prophesy; and he stood in the court of the LORD’S house; and said to all the people,

Jer 19:15　　Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will bring upon this city and upon all her towns all the evil that I have pronounced against it, because they have hardened their necks, that they might not hear my words.

WHAT SHALL HAPPEN?

Isa 47:8　　Therefore hear now this, thou that art given to pleasures, that dwellest carelessly, that sayest in thine heart, I am, and none else beside me; I shall not sit as a widow, neither shall I know the loss of children:

Isa 47:9　　But these two things shall come to thee in a moment in one day, the loss of children, and widowhood: they shall come upon thee in their perfection for the multitude of thy sorceries, and for the great abundance of thine enchantments.

Isa 47:10　　For thou hast trusted in thy wickedness: thou hast said, None seeth me. Thy wisdom and thy knowledge, it hath perverted thee; and thou hast said in thine heart, I am, and none else beside me.

Isa 47:11　　Therefore shall evil come upon thee; thou shalt not know from whence it riseth: and mischief shall fall upon thee; thou shalt not be able to put it off: and desolation shall come upon thee suddenly, which thou shalt not know.

Isa 47:12　　Stand now with thine enchantments, and with the multitude of thy sorceries, wherein thou hast laboured from thy youth; if so be thou shalt be able to profit, if so be thou mayest prevail.

Isa 47:13　　Thou art wearied in the multitude of thy counsels. Let now the astrologers, the stargazers, the monthly prognosticators, stand up, and save thee from these things that shall come upon thee.

Isa 47:14　　Behold, they shall be as stubble; the fire shall burn them; they shall not deliver themselves from the power of the flame: there shall not be a coal to warm at, nor fire to sit before it.

Isa 47:15　　Thus shall they be unto thee with whom thou hast laboured, even thy merchants, from thy youth: they shall wander every one to his quarter; none shall save thee.

Rev 18:3　　For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies.

Rev 18:4　　And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.

Rev 18:5　　For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.

Rev 18:6　　Reward her even as she rewarded you, and double unto her double according to her works: in the cup which she hath filled fill to her double.

Rev 18:7　　How much she hath glorified herself, and lived deliciously, so much torment and sorrow give her: for she saith in her heart, I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow.

Rev 18:8　　Therefore shall her plagues come in one day, death, and mourning, and famine; and she shall be utterly burned with fire: for strong is the Lord God who judgeth her.

Rev 18:9　　And the kings of the earth, who have committed fornication and lived deliciously with her, shall bewail her, and lament for her, when they shall see the smoke of her burning,

Rev 18:10　　Standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas, that great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgment come.

Rev 18:11　　And the merchants of the earth shall weep and mourn over her; for no man buyeth their merchandise any more:

Rev 18:12　　The merchandise of gold, and silver, and precious stones, and of pearls, and fine linen, and purple, and silk, and scarlet, and all thyine wood, and all manner vessels of ivory, and all manner vessels of most precious wood, and of brass, and iron, and marble,

Rev 18:13　　And cinnamon, and odours, and ointments, and frankincense, and wine, and oil, and fine flour, and wheat, and beasts, and sheep, and horses, and chariots, and slaves, and souls of men.

Rev 18:14　　And the fruits that thy soul lusted after are departed from thee, and all things which were dainty and goodly are departed from thee, and thou shalt find them no more at all.

Rev 18:15　　The merchants of these things, which were made rich by her, shall stand afar off for the fear of her torment, weeping and wailing,

Rev 18:16　　And saying, Alas, alas, that great city, that was clothed in fine linen, and purple, and scarlet, and decked with gold, and precious stones, and pearls!

Rev 18:17　　For in one hour so great riches is come to nought. And every shipmaster, and all the company in ships, and sailors, and as many as trade by sea, stood afar off,

Rev 18:18　　And cried when they saw the smoke of her burning, saying, What city is like unto this great city!

Rev 18:19　　And they cast dust on their heads, and cried, weeping and wailing, saying, Alas, alas, that great city, wherein were made rich all that had ships in the sea by reason of her costliness! for in one hour is she made desolate.

Rev 18:20　　Rejoice over her, thou heaven, and ye holy apostles and prophets; for God hath avenged you on her.

Rev 18:21　　And a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone, and cast it into the sea, saying, Thus with violence shall that great city Babylon be thrown down, and shall be found no more at all.

Rev 18:22　　And the voice of harpers, and musicians, and of pipers, and trumpeters, shall be heard no more at all in thee; and no craftsman, of whatsoever craft he be, shall be found any more in thee; and the sound of a millstone shall be heard no more at all in thee;

Rev 18:23　　And the light of a candle shall shine no more at all in thee; and the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride shall be heard no more at all in thee: for thy merchants were the great men of the earth; for by thy sorceries were all nations deceived.

Rev 18:24　　And in her was found the blood of prophets, and of saints, and of all that were slain upon the earth.
