1 Peter 3:15
But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the HOPE that is in you with meekness and fear:
How can we have hope. I know more days than not it is tough to find it and hang onto it throughout the day. Holding onto it simply for your own sanity without trying to put a smile on your face and convincing others you have hope! Right? Can anyone relate to what I am saying?
Well, first off we have NO HOPE if we are looking to this messed up world to provide it for us. This place gets more hopeless by the day! We first must know God! We must know His word and seek Him daily.
Let’s see what the infallible word of God has to say regarding hope.
1 Thessalonians 2:19
For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Are not even ye in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming?
I find it interesting that in the verse just before 19, the end of verse 18 it says….
But Satan hindered us.
Paul is telling his brothers and sisters that he would have come to them to continue to encourage them and help them but he has been hindered by Satan and that this was temporary and he cannot be with them in presence but HE IS WITH THEM IN HEART.
THEN, he asks for what is our HOPE, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? THEN he asks, are not even ye in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at His coming?
I glean from this that our HOPE is not in our ever changing circumstances of our lives where we may find ourselves or those we love being hindered by Satan for a brief time. NO, NO, our HOPE is in KNOWING we will be in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at His coming.
Do you believe He is coming? If you do then that is certainly our hope. If you don’t believe it then you need to begin by asking the Lord to help you in your unbelief. Ask Jesus Christ to show you, to teach you, to reveal Himself to you as only He can.
Let’s see what else the word of God has to say.
1 Thessalonians 4:13-18
But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have NO HOPE.
For IF we BELIEVE that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
Wherefore COMFORT one another with these words.
YES…YES, brothers and sisters! Now that is the HOPE I am talking about! We cannot expect to have hope in the things we see around us in this world, but if we keep our minds on the things above we can have hope knowing the Lord God WILL do what He has said He would do!
1 Thessalonians 5:8-11
But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the HOPE of SALVATION.
For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to OBTAIN SALVATION by our Lord Jesus Christ,
Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.

ENDING WITH THESE WORDS.
Colossians 3:1-4
If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.
Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.
For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.
When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.
Colossians 3:13
Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.
Colossians 3:15-16
And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
