(Hos 4:1) Hear the word of the LORD, ye children of Israel: for the LORD hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land.
(Hos 4:2) By swearing, and lying, and killing, and stealing, and committing adultery, they break out, and blood toucheth blood.
(Hos 4:3) Therefore shall the land mourn, and every one that dwelleth therein shall languish, with the beasts of the field, and with the fowls of heaven; yea, the fishes of the sea also shall be taken away.
(Hos 4:6) My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.
I read these verses and I cannot help but see America. Verse 1 says not truth, no mercy and no knowledge of God in the land. Verse 2 says By swearing and lying and killing and stealing and committing adultery….hmmm. Yes, that verse fits this country too.
Verse 1 tells us that there is no knowledge of God in the land. Why?
Verse 6 tells us that people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Why?
Scripture tells us that we have no knowledge because we HAVE REJECTED KNOWLEDGE. Because of rejecting knowledge from the one who gives it He will also reject us.
In verse 6 the word destroyed in Hebrew means CUT OFF. So, my people are cut off for lack of knowledge.
How do we change this? How do we turn things around? Can we?
1Sa 2:3 Talk no more so exceeding proudly; let not arrogancy come out of your mouth: for the LORD is a God of knowledge, and by him actions are weighed.
Psa 14:4 Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge? who eat up my people as they eat bread, and call not upon the LORD. (I find it interesting that this is said again word for word in Psalm 53:4.)
Let’s pray. Dear Father in Heaven, as we read Your words written for us in your Holy Bible help us Lord. Convict each of us however you need to. Help us to look at our own lives. Help us to see where we each are lacking. Help us Lord God to cry out to You, to seek You, to search for You. Help us Lord God to have the ears to hear You. Circumcise our hearts. Circumcise our ears. Cut away all our wickedness. Teach us what the meaning of “fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge”. Help us to read the scriptures and give us understanding as only You can. Open our eyes and ears and our hearts. Deuteronomy 30:6 says…And the Lord thy God will circumcise thine heart, and the heart of they seed, to love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all they soul, that thou mayest live. Help us Lord God Almighty to learn from You and Your perfect ways. In these days we see darkness growing and we desire to be a light in the darkness as You have called us to be. Fill us with Your Holy Spirit. Keep our lamps full of oil. May we be ready on that blessed day when we hear the trumpets blow. Thank you for hearing our cries and our prayers. Thank you for not turning your back on us and cutting us off as we know we all deserve. Thank you for your mercy and your grace. Help each of us to repent where your holy spirit reveals to each one of us. Help us then to turn from our wickedness and not go back. In your strength and your strength alone, help us to stand and not be shaken. It is in the name of Jesus Christ we ask all these things. We give thanks unto You! We praise You!
Psa 119:66 Teach me good judgment and knowledge: for I have believed thy commandments.
Pro 1:7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.
Pro 2:1 My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;
Pro 2:2 So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;
Pro 2:3 Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;
Pro 2:4 If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;
Pro 2:5 Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.
Pro 2:6 For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.
This morning I was having coffee trying to wake up and planning to drive to Tennessee to visit grandkids and son and daughter in law who are serving in the military.
I also thought back on this day 34 years ago when my first son was born! He is a fine man. Also serving in the military and based out of Norfolk. He shook my world 34 years ago! This morning sitting in our living room my morning violently shook again! I am in my 50’s and about 5 years ago we had 2 earthquakes in Oklahoma within a 2 week period that I felt in Arkansas. First time I had ever felt one in Arkansas. This morning again, Oklahoma had a 5.6 and in our house we heard a loud roar and windows were rattling and it literally felt like a truck ran into our home! I kid you not! I screamed and ran to my husband who was in the bathroom, and yelled WHAT WAS THAT? He said, “it is an earthquake”! I really thought something hit the house!
It is crazy. I don’t care why it is explained. Don’t care that people will say it’s fracking. Does it really matter? Jesus Christ told us. His word is true. I can’t help but wonder if most people just blow it off. We all better be taking inventory in our lives. JESUS IS COMING BACK!
And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. All these are the beginning of sorrows.
I will say that I believe it to be very important to watch at least from 39 minute mark. A couple of minutes in that spot might make you think you have already heard it but it is important as John Haller continues with the next segment on whom he met.
I think it is safe to say that America has failed greatly in following Deuteronomy 6:6-7. I am sure my grandmother must have felt that way when she was still living. She was a devout Christian woman. At least everything I remember about her. I so wish she were here now so I could converse with her. Someone who I could learn a great deal from. You see it doesn’t happen overnight. My dad was raised in a very Christian family. Perfect? I didn’t say that. Not one family is. Apparently when my dad started his family he didn’t want to live the way he was raised. He was a good guy! Everyone loved him. He had morals. He was honest. He was a hard worker. He was a man with integrity. Was he saved? I don’t think I can honestly say yes or no. I know if I had to judge based on his language and the fact I cannot ever recall him talking about God unless he was using it as a curse word. I hate that. Sad thing is that I grew up and did the same. I lived it and after all it is like all the other curse words right? WRONG! I hate hearing anyone do that now. I cannot stand it. It hurts my spirit and causes great distress to hear it! I am so thankful that it does. So, back to my dad. I hope that when he sat down on the couch early on that morning when his heart began racing so fast that it finally quit. I hope that in the panic he had to have felt in those last few minutes he was alive and sitting there alone, I hope he cried out to God and asked for forgiveness and accepted Jesus. I can only hope.
Now, everyone always seems to say, “they are now in a better place, they are in Heaven “. I don’t think this is true, everyone wants to make everyone feel better. Shouldn’t the truth be told? Again, we have hope that people at some point had that talk and opened their hearts at that last minute. So, my grandmother passed 6 months or so after my dad. The Lord really opened my eyes. You see, I knew my grandmother loved the Lord with EVERYTHING she had. She longed to go be with the Lord. When she passed and people said”she is in a better place now”, it felt different. Why? Because I knew she really was! It began to hit me hard when I reflected back on my dad. Was he in Heaven? You see, I don’t know if he is but I feel very confident that my grandmother is! I decided then that I wanted to live a life so that my children would have that confidence of where I was and not have to wonder or that people might just say the normal saying just so everyone feels better. I felt joy for my grandmother and that was so different than my dad. Read this scripture and ask yourself if America has passed or failed. How long before our Father in Heaven says ENOUGH?
These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.
The family unit is purposed to instruct every generation about God. Make no mistake – it is not only the responsibility of your church to educate and impart the knowledge and person of Jesus Christ to your children. It is first and foremost the responsibility of the family. If families fail at this task, future generations will gradually forget about God, and smaller becomes the opportunity for them to be saved. Remember the Lord, and what He has done!

ONE MORE THING. …
I didn’t grow up in a family where they taught me about the Lord and His ways and I rarely went to a church service with an aunt or babysitter. I didn’t really even know my grandmother but she made sure I had a bible. I grew up knowing she loved the Lord even though I didn’t know much more than that. Her actions were clear and were examples. Even if you didn’t have that family that taught you and you don’t think you can understand the Word of God, think again. God stood at my heart waiting to be asked in. He will do the same for you. Ask Him. He will be true to HIS promises. He will teach you as you truly seek Him. Give Him a try. He won’t let you down. I pray if you have not yet, that you will not let another second go by without making Him, Jesus Christ your Savior. We don’t know when our last day will be. We each choose our destination, please don’t make it be one you regret.
I bet we have all experienced this feeling. We try to get our family or friends to understand the time in which we live. We try to make them see they need to know the Lord. We try to make them understand there is so much more to this life or more importantly the eternal one We try to get them to realize they need a Saviour. We maybe push too much. Our frustration may begin to show. Do we sometimes act like WE are their hope? If they don’t listen to us then is it all over?
I think we often do that without meaning to. Without realizing we might create more harm.
This scripture speaks to me. It takes a load off my shoulders too. Put my focus back on simply loving the Lord and people and plant a seed and then move along. I no longer need to stand over the seed with my hoe and a water hose waiting on it to shoot up out of the ground immediately before me. How much time am I wasting? I could be planting another seed. We are nothing but servants and the Lord does the important work. Do you think sometimes the Lord wants to say “Enough already. ..move on”?
1 Corinthians 3:5-9
What, after all, is Apollos? And what is Paul? Only servants, through whom you came to believe—as the Lord has assigned to each his task. I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow. So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. The one who plants and the one who waters have one purpose, and they will each be rewarded according to their own labor. For we are co-workers in God’s service; you are God’s field, God’s building.
Here Paul describes a co-operative effort, not by the design of men, but that it is God’s design to have them plant and water together. To plant a seed, God must make the soil (people’s hearts) ready and open to receive it. The watering and caring for a seed once planted is something only the power of God can accomplish, and it is an amazing work by done by the Holy Spirit through various avenues. The point is that the apostles are in service to the same God through Jesus Christ, and that these early believers were theirs to care for.

Here is the reason for our celebration. Don’t focus on presents but focus on His presence. Thanks be to our Father in Heaven who loves us so much more than we can currently understand.
6 For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace
Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall in no wise enter therein.
Dear friends, please don’t try to think it to death. Stay pure at heart pray or better yet talk to your Father always. We trust our Father and have nothing to fear. Don’t worry you are leaving something behind. Don’t say, I never had the opportunity to marry. Don’t say I never had the opportunity to have children and be a mom. Don’t say there are so many things I have not had the chance to experience in this life….I AM FAR TOO YOUNG!
God has so much more than our minds can ever conceive of. You are. Not missing a thing.
1 Corinthians 2:9
However as it is written, “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love Him.”
